Wireless router configuration

If you don't already have a wireless network, you can use an AirPort base station to create one. To configure an AirPort base station, you connect the Ethernet connection to the WAN port on the base station. In turn, the base station creates a Wi-Fi (wireless) connection to the Internet. Consult the documentation for your AirPort base station for more information on how to set up your wireless connection. Once you have a Wi-Fi network available, use these steps to tell your Mac to join it:
  1. Click the Wi-Fi menu icon airport_symbol.png and select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  2. If prompted, enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Check "Remember this network" to have your Mac automatically join your home network.

Wifi password finder

Although your Wi-Fi password is saved on your computer, it should be stored in a safe place in case you need to allow access to your network.

Your Wi-Fi password should be treated the same way as your ATM PIN, as it allows anyone with a laptop the ability to join your network. In the wrong hands, your information could be intercepted if someone is on your network.

Locating your Wi-Fi password on your computer is easy, but it should be given only to those you know and trust.

Open your Internet browser.
Type in "CNet.com" and click the "Downloads" tab located underneath the search bar at the top of the browser screen.

Type "Wirelesskeyview" in the search bar, and click the "Magnifying glass" button.

Password Locator for PCs

Click the first search result, followed by clicking the "Download Now" button to begin the download.
Save the file to your desktop.

Double-click the file to run the program.
The password will be displayed in the program's window.
Password Locator for Macs

Click the "Finder" icon on your dock. Select "Go" and "Applications" from the drop-down menu. Double-click the "Utilities" folder, followed by double-clicking the "Keychain Access" button.

Double-click the name of your network, and check the box next to "Show Password." Type your System Administrator password, and click "OK."
