Question about NEC SD-V2-5U (SDV25U) Serial Adapter

Open Question

PCI to USB 2.0 doesn't work

I installed the Syba SD-V2-5U PCI to USB 2.0 card on my computer and only USB 1.1 works. I installed the correct drivers and tried many different things such as disabling the windows drivers and only installing the drivers for the card. I have moved the card to different PCI slots, only to have the same results. The card works because everything I plug in works, its just really slow. Thanks you for the help!

SOURCE: XP won't boot with NEC SD-V2-5U USB card installed

Have you tried moving the card to a different slot? The motherboard BIOS and/or the operating system may be trying to assign an interrupt that cannot be shared--especially if you have the card installed in the slot next to the video card (or shared with the onboard video).

Sd-pex-vt4e4i windows 7 driver

Sybe makes your card. It was sold by many - including Newegg, here.
Here's Syba's support page for the SD-PEX-VT4E4I. It says no driver are needed, but only is supported up to Windows Vista. You want to contact support directly but I suspect this is End Of Life.
Good luck!

I installed this card and still have no USB 2.0. I think I need a driver. XP did find the card and installed it. It works, just not high speed.

Speed depends not only on USB adapter but also on the device you plug in. In general, if you can copy to thumbdrive at 5Mbytes/sec than it's USB 2.0

Is Hi-speed USB 2.0 5-port PCI card compatible with Windows 7 and is there a driver available

According to belkins wweb site there is no Windows 7 driver or support for this card. From what I could find on else where it should just work with Windows 7. If you have the card installed and it is not being detected by Windows 7 I would remove the card with the system powered off. Turn it on so it "notices" that its no longer there, then power off and put the card back in, in another slot if you have one. turn it back on and it should detect it.

Lost install instructions for Hi-speed usb 2.0 5-port PCI card.

The drivers are here. You shouldn't need to do anything to install the card other than plug it into a PCI slot in your computer and install the drivers.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

Pci card doesint work

What you want is a USB hub.  That will allow you to connect more than two USB devices to your computer.  There are two types, USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.  USB 1.1 will work for most slow speed devices, USB 2.0 is better for cameras and hard disks that have the support.  You should confirm which version of USB your computer has, but you should be OK getting a USB 4-port hub, plugging that into your computer, then plugging your keyboard and mouse into the hub and using the other port for the new peripheral that you wish to install.  Old PCI cards are problematic because you need the correct drivers.  You also need to make sure you plug them into the proper PCI port.  It sounds like the device you got from e-bay might be bad, so you shouldn't continue to use it.  If you post the make / model of your computer we might be able to suggest a new PCI card that will work if you still want to add more ports to your computer.

Evergreen IEEE 1394/USB fireLINE PCI Combo Card

You might need to update the NVRAM that stores the PCI configuration that is read at POST. This is done by pressing and holding the so-called CUDA switch on the MOBO for for at least 30 seconds or so. The  eraser end of a wooden pencil makes a useful tool for this ;-) It sometimes requires unplugging the computer and removing the small battery that maintains the memory so that it is completely cleared. Please check that no connections, especially memory cards, haven't been disturbed during installation as well. HTH.

PCI adapter did not install

I don't know how you could have installed the drivers BEFORE you installed the hardware... Shut down and UNPLUG the system; REMOVE the new PCI card, then hook up the power and boot the system back to the Desktop. Check the Device Manager to be sure you're not showing any problems; if everything seems back to normal, shut down and unplug the system a second time, then install the PCI card again, restore power, and prepare to reboot the system. Be SURE that ALL of the PCI cards are fully seated in the slots, and that the main power cable (from the PSU) is fully seated in the connector; IOW, check the system just to be sure that nothing has come loose while you've been working inside the case. Next, boot the system again; Windows SHOULD detect the new PCI card during bootup, though it might NOT request drivers, if they are already embedded within XP itself... Once you get back to the Desktop, open the Device Manager and check to be sure that the new card has been detected and properly installed. If you see any question marks, error messages, or exclamation marks, take detailed notes, and post that information here, so we can help you troubleshoot the problem... Good luck; I can only give you general advice about this, because you didn't provide any specific details about your new hardware, but with a little luck, you'll get everything working without any more heartburn...

Did you install the latest drivers for this device? Download and install the latest dell drivers and firware for the cardbus controller. Make sure you are using dell drivers, not microsoft from windows update.
