Question about Epson UB S01 (C823361) Serial Adapter

No data getting through serial adapter

Believe the serial adapter (epson ub-s01) got a power surge and is damaged. interchanged one from another epson printer and have isolated that the card is the problem. have a local electronic board repairman but want to know if there is a typical part that gets zapped from surges to save time and money in repair. don't see any obvious damage. i have purchased a new one online but want to repair for a backup since this has happened several times with other printers we operate. thanks, doug mitchell

Re: no data getting through serial adapter

We're an EPSON repair center and I can tell you that typically the UB-S01 is the culprit. For the low cost of the part it would be much more expensive and time consuming to fix it. We throw them in the trash can. If you want to avoid the damage from power on the card look at buying an APC PNET1. It protects CAT5 cables. Most EPSON UB-S01 adapaters are connected to a 25 pin to RJ45 adapter. The data is then sent through the CAT5 and converted back at the source end to RS232 DB9. If you place a PNET1 inline with the adapaters it should stop any future spikes on the card. Good luck.

Serial video cable driver for linux

Hey Anonymous! Unfortunately, the SSU-100 Single RS-232 Serial Adapter is only 'officially' supported on the following Operating Systems:

Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003

To the best of my knowledge, there is not a Linux porting of the drivers. However there is a Linux driver package for the Quatech ESU2-100 (see below)

I doubt they are interchangable.

I have a Belkin 1GB USB data stick. I have damaged the connection. I have been told that it is impossible to repair or retrieve the data. My life is on it! I need the data urgently!!

A: if you want to take a risk, try bending the top of it back to it's normal position.
B: You might want to open it up and check for internal damage. Most flash drives are held together by a screw or can be **** open with a penknife. Bend the plug back to it's normal position, and try putting it back in your computer. If your computer picks it up, copy off all the data, and buy a new flash drive!
If that doesn't work, contact a data recovery specialist in your area, and they will be able to help you! Good Luck!

Usb doesnt recognize serial device

You didn't mention exactly what keyspan device you're trying to install. That's some pretty important information, but I'm going to make a suggestion based on what I've got at this moment. If you need more, you've got to give more info.

I'm assuming that if there is a power supply for your device, it is plugged in and working properly. Do you have the drivers installed for the end device? If not, the device might not be backward compatible. Your best bet would be to simply run it on an older computer, if you can.

If it was me, I think I'd carefully check the pins on the device you're trying to adapt to USB. Those pins are pretty delicate, compared to USB. One bent or missing data pin and it might not work.

When printing from attachmate the enterprise or extreme the application crashes and closes with no errors and not print job

I'm gonna say it's because your PC does not recognize the SDLC data. I believe your board is a 3276 controller/terminal emulator and it only displays the mainframe data. There would be no OS connection to a local printer.

I search on internet about Epson (C823061) Serial Adapter

It’s going to be a tough find (EPSON discontinued the item).
See if your printer is listed and see if EPSON has something else that will work:

OKI ML280 serial card installation

I believe on the top of the printer towards the back is a panel with a single screw. Under here are dip switches to set the printer.
