there is a holding contact at the motor wiring, check the schematics and trace that holding contact. it should hold the motor running as soon as it starts.

you have a problem with a component called a capacitor.the capacitor stores an electric charge.this charge gives the motor the "kick" needs to start.if you have a faulty one the motor will hum because it cant turn.it should only be replaced by a competent appliance technician.

The motor is overheating and trips the thermal overload protector which doesn't reset until the motor has cooled down. That is the reason the dryer restarts only after about 20 minutes when the motor has cooled down. Turn the drum manually to check if turns freely. The motor gets overloaded and overheats if the drum is restricted. Also make sure the dryer's inside, particularly the base where the motor is located, and vents are clear to allow proper air circulation and prevent the motor from overheating.
The only viable solution is replacing the motor if the drum turns freely and the cabinet and vents are clear but the dryer still shuts off. The motor has winding problems and it cannot be repaired and only replacing it will solve the problem.

SOURCE: When I press the start
There's no reset button and the
problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. This thermal fuse is wired in
series with the motor and if it's blown open, power to the motor is terminated
and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot
Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located behind the bottom front panel. Remove the two screws from the bottom flange of the panel then pull the panel down and off the cabinet.
Make sure the lint filter is clean the vent system is not restricted then check the continuity of the thermal fuse. Replace it including the cycling thermostat if the thermal fuse is indeed open. Click on the links below for more detailed troubleshooting.

Note: Some dryers use a thermistor in the absence of a cycling thermostat.
