I had same problem You will have to go into your local T mobile store If you write T-Mobile a 'to the point' letter they well compensate you with a weeks voucher for pay and go I e mailed and complained as I'm 30, And was not given the option for the content lock nor was it offered to be removed in store when i purchased it I told T mobile what an inconvienioence it was that I had to take a day offf work to go to thier shop and prove my age when this should have been done in store I also complained about the member of staff who sold me the dongle as she should have informed me of what I was buying... she failed to do this so to me, she failed to do her job properly But then it is only the UNEDUCATED that work in these stores cause there was no vacancies left at McDonalds!

We have the same problem.

I already have a contract with these cowboys but keep exceeding my Fair Use Allowance so sent my GF out to buy a pay as you go one to tide me over till my ban is lifted.

My girlfriend purchased a dongle from PC world Isle of Wight and the store person took her name address etc just like they do in other electrical shops when she paid.

We tried using the dongle and came across a content lock. I Phoned T-Mobile to ask for it to be removed. They then told me I don't own the dongle and my girlfriend now has to confirm her age.

She doesn't have a credit card nor do we have a t-mobile store on the Island so T-Mobile said it cant be removed, Utter disgrace....

SOLUTION! KEEP AWAY FROM T-MOBILE

Virgin broadband I have a locked Overdrive Pro C54 modem and cannot get it unlocked. I have a Samsung tablet and it will not pick up a signal from my hotspot.

By unlocked, if you mean you can not access the WEP or WPA code and wish to edit it it, the default user id and password for most routers is admin and admin or admin and password.

Remove content lock

If you're over 18 years old, it just need your credit card details or name and address to verify your age (it won't cost you anything according to T-mobile).

confirm your age by:
1. Trying to access a blocked site and entering your details when asked.
2. Dialling 1818 from your T-Mobile phone and following the prompts.

If you're a pay monthly customer, you can remove Content Lock online in My T-Mobile in 3 easy steps:
1. Sign up or log in to My T-Mobile (it's free and only takes a few minutes)
2. Select 'Phone'
3. Select 'Removed' under 'Content Lock' and click 'Set'

My orange broadband is really slow, is there a problem with them today?

Sometimes the mobile broadband Sim cars are data Sim. and when not at a very good reception can be difficult to get good browsing speed. try this tip. if it is mobile broadband then try taking the data Sim card from the modem and fix in an ordinary orange Sim pay as you go calling Sim card. it helps gain better reception and can work very fast.
let me know if this solution works for you.

I need usb driver in linux for my mobile samsung sgh x820

hi...

many mobile phone companies dont provide drivers for linux.

But there is a software i would personaly recommend to you. Actually its not a software, its a shell script.
Name of software is "Sakis3g". It can connect to mobile phones and other mobile devices which can be detected by linux kernel. You can use IR, Bluetooth, even USB cable to connect to your device.

You can use this software for the following

connect to mobile devices by IR, bluetooth, USB Cable
  1. Send and receive files between computer and device

  2. Access Internet from Device by Dial Up Networking

  3. Browse files on Mobile device

  4. Mount the mobile device on a user specified mount point or communication port.
usually it mounts connected mobile device to /dev/rfcomm0. Through this port, you can communicate with the device .
Connect to USB Modem (Like Reliance DataConnect, TATA Photon, IDEA Netsetter etc.)

  1. ability to connect to any locked/unlocked USB internet Modems (Zero Devices)

  2. fully automated connection setup. No manual input is needed except to specify connection name.

You can find more details and download Sakis3g from this address
http://www.linuxconfig.org/mobile-broadband-connection-and-sakis3g

hope this will help you to solve your issue.

I have just purchased a pay as you go mobile broadband sim card and need to change the access point name on my laptop to access the internet. I have no idea where to start.

you don't change the name on your laptop you simply select another access point. is there a picture of a computer with signal waves coming from it on your system tray? click on it to view wireless networks and choose your other network.

Are you connecting by usb mobile dongle or your phone. If it's a dongle then there should be no need to do anything with your wireless settings as it works independently. If it's your phone then does you phone work as a wireless access point or should you be connecting it to the laptop by USB or bluetooth?

Wireless connection

3 Com U.S. Robotics 56k External modem
modem.gif

INTRODUCTION
Today, with the set standards of V.90, purchasing a modem is a much less confusing task and sometimes considered easy.
Before purchasing a modem, take the below into consideration. Today, with the popularity of the Internet and multimedia over the Internet, broadband is becoming widely available. If available in your area, you may want to consider purchasing a broadband solution, such as DSL available through a phone or third-party company, Cable available through your local cable provider, Satellite available through a third-party, or through a large ISP such as MSN or AOL.
If a broadband connection is not available in your area, below are some recommendations to consider when purchasing a computer modem.
STANDARDS
Originally, when the 56k connection was introduced, there was not a set standard between two major modem manufacturers, causing there to be two different technologies, X2 and KFlex. Each of these technologies allowed for a modem to connect at higher speeds, but only if the Internet Provider supported the technology. Because of the difficulties and issues with these two different technologies, one technology emerged out of the two, called V.90. This technology will allow users of any brand of modem to connect at higher speeds.
Today all modems (purchased new) are V.90 and this is no longer a concern. Additional information and history about each of these technologies can be found on our Modem Standard page.
INTERFACE
Interface can be an important when considering purchasing a modem. It is important that your computer has the available connections and resources when purchasing a modem.
PCI / ISA (Internal) – PCI / ISA modems are modems that are found in most computers today. These modems are installed internally into the computer with an available connection on the back of the modem for the phone line.
When purchasing this type of modem it is important that you verify your computer has the available connection for this modem within the computer (PCI or ISA). In addition, verify that your computer has the available resources. You can sometimes have difficulties installing a modem if a serial device, such as a Serial mouse or Serial PDA, is connected to the computer.
Serial (External) – A serial modem connects to the serial port located on the back of the computer. These modems are generally easy to install; however, they can cost more than an internal modem as you pay additional money for the plastic cover.
When purchasing this type of modem it is important that you verify your computer has an available serial connection on the back of the computer; devices such as a serial mouse may already be utilizing your serial port. Some computers may have two serial ports; if this is the case and only one serial port is currently being utilized, verify that the second port can be enabled or is already enabled in CMOS.
PC Card (PCMCIA) – Solution used with portable computers, PC Card modems are fairly cheap and relatively easy to install in the computer.
If a modem is already present in your portable computer but you wish to upgrade or the internal modem has gone bad, it is important that you verify the pre-existing modem can be disabled before installing the new modem.
USB – A new solution, USB allows a user to install up to 127 devices on the computer and is available for PC and Mac. Before purchasing this solution, verify that your computer has a USB connection. If no USB connection is available, an additional card will need to be installed in the computer.
CONNECTION
The connection can differ depending upon the type of modem purchased with the computer.
Internal / External / USB modem – Today, all modems have a RJ-11 connection, which is a standard phone connection, on the modem. If important to you, verify that the modem has two available RJ-11 connections. One of these connections will connect the modem to the phone and the other can be used for an office phone. This can be very useful for a home or office computer that may need a phone next to it.
PC Card modem – When purchasing a PC Card modem, the connection can be a very important factor consideration. Below we have listed the pros and cons of each of these connection types.
Dongle – A commonly found solution for PC Card modems, but a very burdensome solution. The Dongle is an additional cord that connects from the PC Card to a small opening for a RJ-11 connection. While a good thought, we find that these connections get lost often. The pro of this solution is a very sturdy connection and a solution that will allow only a Type II slot to be used, allowing and additional slot free for another card.
Standard – Standard connection, like a desktop modem, allows for a phone line to be connected directly to the modem. This solution allows for no additional cables. The con to this solution is that these cards will generally occupy your complete PCMCIA slot, although Xircom offers a solution that will not.
Xjack – An excellent solution for Portable computers, the Xjack by 3COM allows users a similar connection to the standard connection without the use of any additional accessories or lost space. The con to this solution is that the Xjack can be damaged very easily.

Good Luck ! Read and follow instructions/Please dont for get to Vote/Thank You.
