I have just bought a Netgear DM111P to replace a Dynalink - when I connect this modem to my Mac computer I can't get an internet connection. I have tried going through the Settings however this j

How do you enter the internet provider details into the modem when you don't have internet access????

Chapter 1: Connecting the Wireless-G Broadband Router
Hardware Installation
1. Locate an optimum location for the Broadband Router. The best place for the Broadband Router is usually at
the center of your wireless network, with line of sight to all of your mobile stations.
2. Fix the direction of the antenna. Try to place it in a position that will best cover your wireless network.
Normally, the higher you place the antenna, the better the performance will be. The antenna's position
enhances the receiving sensitivity.
3. Connect a standard Ethernet network cable to the Broadband Router’s Internet port. Then, connect the other
end of the Ethernet cable to your Cable or DSL Broadband modem.
4. Connect your network PCs or Ethernet devices to one of the Broadband Router’s numbered ports with a
standard Ethernet network cable.
5. Connect the AC Power Adapter to the Broadband Router's Power Socket and the other end into an electrical
outlet. Only use the power adapter supplied with the Broadband Router. Use of a different adapter may result
in product damage.

Chapter 2: Configuring the PCs
Overview
The instructions in this chapter will help you configure each of your computers to be able to communicate with
the Router.
To do this, you need to configure your PC’s network settings to obtain an IP (or TCP/IP) address automatically, so
your PC can function as a DHCP client. Computers use IP addresses to communicate with the Router and each
other across a network, such as the Internet.
First, find out which Windows operating system your computer is running. You can find out by clicking the Start
button. Read the side panel of the Start menu to find out which operating system your PC is running.
You may need to do this for each computer you are connecting to the Router.
The next few pages tell you, step by step, how to configure your network settings based on the type of Windows
operating system you are using. Make sure that an Ethernet or wireless adapter (also known as a network
adapter) has been successfully installed in each PC you will configure.
Configuring Windows 98 and Millennium PCs
1. Click the Start button. Select Settings and click the Control Panel icon. Double-click the Network icon.
2. On the Configuration tab, select the TCP/IP line for the applicable Ethernet adapter.
Do not choose a TCP/IP entry whose name mentions DUN, PPPoE, VPN, or AOL. If the word TCP/IP appears by
itself, select that line. Click the Properties button.
3. Click the IP Address tab. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
4. Now click the Gateway tab, and verify that the Installed Gateway field is blank. Click the OK button.
5. Click the OK button again. Windows may ask you for the original Windows installation disk or additional files.
Check for the files at c:\windows\options\cabs, or insert your Windows CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and
check the correct file location, e.g., D:\win98, D:\win9x, etc. (if “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).
6. Windows may ask you to restart your PC. Click the Yes button. If Windows does not ask you to restart, restart
your computer anyway.
Configuring Windows 2000 PCs
1. Click the Start button. Select Settings and click the Control Panel icon. Double-click the Network and Dialup
Connections icon.
2. Select the Local Area Connection icon for the applicable Ethernet adapter (usually it is the first Local Area
Connection listed). Double-click the Local Area Connection. Click the Properties button.
3. Make sure the box next to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is checked. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and click
the Properties button.
4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically. Once the new window appears, click the OK button. Click the
OK button again to complete the PC configuration.
5. Restart your computer.
Configuring Windows XP PCs
The following instructions assume you are running Windows XP with the default interface. If you are using the
Classic interface (where the icons and menus look like previous Windows versions), please follow the
instructions for Windows 2000.
1. Click the Start button and then the Control Panel icon. Click the Network and Internet Connections icon.
Then click the Network Connections icon.
2. Select the Local Area Connection icon for the applicable Ethernet adapter (usually it is the first Local Area
Connection listed). Double-click the Local Area Connection. Click the Properties button.
3. Make sure the box next to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is checked. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and
click the Properties button.
4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
Once the new window appears, click the OK
button. Click the OK button again to complete the PC configuration.

Double check that your modem has more than just a usb port on it. There should be a network port on it too. Simply connect a network cable for the modem to the WAN port on the router and then from the router to the computer.

I have never seen a modem with only usb on it. Let me know if this helps.

After you hook everything up the first thing you want to do is power cycle everything. So unplug the power cord on the router and the modem, Then plug the modem back in first and once the lights all come back on then plug in your router and once those lights come up i would reboot your PC and see it that helps.

Try shutting off power to everything. Then unplug internet modem from computer and plug into WAN port on back of Netgear router. Then connect computer to Netgear using ethernet cable. Power up in the following sequence:
Internet Modem (wait for lights to go steady)
Netgear Router (wait for lights to go steady)
Computer
Then follow instructions for setting up Netgear router as per the instructions provided in the box.

Why does my netgear60 modem say "your DNS server might be unavailable"?


Your ISP may have had their DNS server go non operational.
Turn off the modem wait 30 seconds and turn back on wait about 3 minutes for the modem to configure and open an internet browser and type in www.google.com and see if it works.
If you still have a problem contact the ISP and tell them you can't connect with the DNS server.

first get a wired connection with router//
get into config page 192.168.1.1
username:admin
password: changeme or password
from there you can get into config page and change the settings of the router

How do you check if dm111p modem is working properly


Type 192.168.0.1 in the command line and you should enter configuration screen. There you could check everything there is to know about your problem.
If you don't know how to do it, you could always download this users manual which really helped me a lot with my model. Good luck! :)

Could not make router to work, Netgear modem adding router.


i suppose you have to connect modem to router's "source" socket and modem to socket "in wall" then reset and reconfig router and you should be ok

Netgear modem and/or router problems


check out with your ISP provider ask them to run a line test on your line.
sometime it happen that your line gets a fault.

How many ports does the Netgear DM111P Broadband DSL Modem have? Am I able to connect both my desktop and laptop simultaneously? Thx.


The DM11P is designed to only connect one computer at a time. To have both connected at the same time would require a router. The router would plug into the modem (DM11P) and then your desktop and laptop would plug into the router. If your laptop or desktop can support wireless then you could get a router that also supports wireless.

Netgear make these routers as well as many other companies and they are inexpensive.

Unable to connect a WGR614 Wireless Router to a DM111P Modem


Sounds like you need to port forward your router. Go to port forward .com. find your router and follow the instructions. Hope this does the trick for you.
