SOURCE: Stuck in protection mode

First disconnect the subwoofer wires from the amp, turn the car off and back on...is the amp on? If so your subs are shorting it out, either from a frayed wire, or blown subs.
If it is still in protection mode, check the fuses in the side of the amp.

SOURCE: Autotek XS-900.4 stuck in protect mode

Hi.

The amp does not go on protection only because of wiring or power source problem , but also and mainly when there is an internal fault.

Protection is started whenever an out-of range voltage value is detected from the controller circuit.

Protection can be triggered from a burnt final IC or from a speaker wiring problem.

Since you have ruled out speake, wiring and power source problems, then this Amp is probably defective

If the Amp works fine on a different vehicle, then protection mode may start either because speakers impedance is not within Amp specs, or because the amp has a too big power draw. In this last case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor on the Amp 12V line.

Regards.

Ginko.

SOURCE: When i hook my one 12inch sub up to a sony xplod

yes once in protect the amplifier is cut off because the current drain is more and can damage the outputs.
You might have to check the impedance of the speakers to confirm if this is lower that the rating prescribed for the outputs.
Also try to lower down the low frequency so as the load reduces.
If not the sub woofer is not matching and must be changed.

You may be over driving the speakers or there may be an impedance mismatch between the amplifier and speakers, especially if they are connected in parallel

MY AMP TURNS TURNS ON THE PROTECTIVE MODE

The amp is being overworked and is overheating so it is shutting down to protect itself. You could try to add a fan and point it at the amp to help keep it cool. Also make sure the amp is not located where it will get heat from an exhaust pipe under the car for example. They may have external fans that you can attatch to the amp to help cool it. The constant overheating could eventually damage the amplifier.

Amp on "protect" mode

Hi, what you need to do is unplug all the connections to the amp. The amp goes into protection when the circuitry over heats.\
First decrease all your gains to minimal volume.
Connect your 12+V, remote, and ground.
See if the protection light comes on then.
Next plug in your RCA cables.
Check protection light.
Then plug in your subwoofer cables.
See if you are still in protect mode.
Hopefully everything works alright again.
Just slowly increase the gain to see what the cut-off is. Make sure you aren't dropping the ohmage too low on the amplifier. Check manual for correct wiring and such.
