Star 59 is an 8oz popper, they stopped making them in 1992. Parts are becoming very expensive, usually better to dispose of the machine. I have some used parts available, depending on which ones you want, or you could try partstown.com for Star parts.
Hi, I was able to find out that the Start 39 popcorn makers are 6 oz capacity. The star 86 models are 8 oz capacity. I could not find a model labeled "Star 59" Here is a link below to the manufacturer's website that should help you.
We got a Lincoln Popper from discounttommy.com and had the same problem. We sent the whole motor assembly to them for replacement on 10/17/09. It's 1-7-10 and the machine still doesn't work. This company has the worst bunch of incompetent morons I've ever dealt with! They have dropped the ball every step of the way and offered NO apology!! I even spoke to the owner and he defended their 'Customer Service Manager' who has done nothing but screw everything up!! Incredible!! The motor they sent spun in reverse, they sent the wrong size gear for it and they sent the wrong piece that goes above the kettle around the motor gear shaft. And that's just half of the story!! Our PTA had to go and by a Gold Label machine from a local vender for over $450. because discounttommy could not replace the motor before we needed it again on 12-3-09 for concessions and they had 6 weeks to do it!!
So my solution is to AVOID discounttommy.com first of all and avoid these cheap machines. Gold Medal is the best machine. It has metal gears unlike the cheap junk machines plastic gears. Trust me on this please!!
Dear mpolly: I too am looking for the same gear I believe, if its the one that at the top of the long rod. Ours fell off as well and probably found by someone in there bag of pop corn. I will let you know if I find it.
