Hello there..Thats normal only if your sub volume and the pre amp is turned up..Your amp is the cause of the speaker jump..Turn amp volume sub level down a few and check your wire from sub to amp..If all of that is good is a normal operation for pre amp warm up in sub if level is turn to max..Try unplugging amp freom sub then turn sub on stand alone(just sub outlet plugged in and no wires from base amp plugged in..If sub stops the its the amp making the problem..If it still is there then the pre amp is either dusty on inside or the outlet plug that it is plugged in doesnt have a good ground..Hope these help to solve your problem..Have a great day...
Instead of connecting it to the sub output, try it on the L or R output of your amp. This will eliminate the Denon. If this fails, you need to test the loudspeaker driver unit whilst disconnected from the sub amp. Use a 1.5v cell (AA or bigger) connect using croc leads to the speaker's terminals. If the speaker is OK, you should hear a click. If you hear nothing, the speaker unit is faulty.
hey buddy, I have the same system, and although I haven't experienced it on this one, I had the Harman Kardon equivalent to the TSS-750, and the sub did this same thing. It was a loose RCA connection, and, as I was well outside of warranty, I took the amp out of the back and just re-soldered the connection myself. It now functions flawlessly for my bedroom setup. I hope you get it all worked out on your system! I can't imagine using this awesome system without its deep notes!
I was able to take care of this issue by talking to Onkyo tech support. They diagnosed over the phone and concluded that the receiver set the volume for the sub way too low (-12), therefore sub was not receiving the input and was doing what it was supposed to be doing. They walked me through manually increasing the volume and now everything works great.

The receiver automatic speaker set-up set the sub volume at -12 and since it was not getting any signals from the receiver it was doing what it is supposed to be doing (going to the standby mode). This was troubleshooted by Onkyo tech support on a Sunday. All the best about Onkyo customer support.
