Stacked washer drum came off axis

Not able to use washer now because drum came off it's axis when I was washing sheets. THe drum now lays lopsided. Cannot be straightened. THe washer is a little over a year old. Purchased at Sears. They said it's not in warranty after a year. Are there any other warranties with Kenmore to cover this problem?

I have the same problem with my Kenmore washer. The drum has come off axis. Any idea what the problem may be and what my options are?

I am having the same trouble. I think we had an extremely off-balanced load that ran while we were out of the house. My partner manually lifted the basket and settled it back centrally. The thing is spinnig again, but not with clothes in it. When we add a load, it goes off axis again.

That would the user interface board (touch panel)behind the dash. Sorry, but not a cheap fix at all. Maybe search Ebay for the part, sometimes you can find it cheaper. Very expensive part and repair. Good Luck to you. Jim

Today (4/3/09) I got a letter from Sears. They will replace the electronic control board (you know, the F-51 business) for FREE, in warranty or not. Serial #s for the Bad Board begin: CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49. Call Sears at 800-847-9083. The voices of all of us have finally been heard! There is a class action attorney firm in San Francisco looking into a legal remedy.

How to get the drum in a frontload washer to stop spinning lopsided

It sounds from your description like the machine's tub bearing may have collapsed. If this is the case, the tub will be very noisy during operation.

Drum wont spin looks lopsided

The "Guides" around the drum are worn out or the bearing is bad, which usually causes it. Replace the bearing and guides. You Tube has many videos on these fix's. and there is a good chance your machine will have one to view.

I have a LG wm-2277hw front load washer. The inside drum seems to be out of balance. What do I need to do.

hi dear it seems that you need to change rollers seal and maybe the axis IF UR WASHER IS NOISY if not you have to check the tub supports up and down.

It seems that the drum is spinning off its axis

When a front load washer does not spin properly, the problem can be caused by failed axle that connects the pulley to the wash drum, or failed shock or (possibly) broken suspension springs.
Remove washer top, inspect the two or four springs holding the washer drum up. The whole drum should be able to "bounce" a little, when you press down on it.
Remove the lower front panel and with a flashlight, inspect the two shock absorbers. Both should attach up to the wash drum, but it is common for them to break, especially if the front load washer has been moved from one house to another without re-installing the lower brackets and the long bolts that secure the drum during the move.
If the springs and shocks are not damaged, with the top removed look down into the rear area. You will see a large pulley with a belt on it. If you see brown/black grease marks all over or obvious problem when you try to turn the pulley, you have found the major problem.
Please get back to me with what you find. OK?

Need to recenter the drum

With this style of washer, setting the washer counter balance is relatively easy. All you need to do, stand at the front of the washer and grab the back corners of the washer and tilt it forward, lifting the back edge up about 4-6 inches.

You might want to get someone to help to do this Sarah, unless you had your Wheaties that day! Once you have it tilted up, just let it go, it will set the self-leveling rear legs, which will center the wash tub.

Now that that is done, you can push the washer to line it up with your dryer, etc., to straighten it out (just don't lift the washer up).

You can now use the front two adjustable feet pads, under each front corner to complete the leveling adjustments. You can lift ever so slightly, the front edge to make this eaiser. You might need to use a pair of channel lock or slip joint pliers to turn the legs either in or out to get the washer level.

That should do it, and unless the washer gets overloaded, (with lots of towels and/or sheets) it should stay balanced for quite some time.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Lopsided during spin

This can be caused by a brake that has failed.  Try to spin inner tub with washer off.  It should NOT turn.  If it turns the brake is bad and is allowing the tub to spin when agitating.  This causes clthes to bunch up.
