Question about Motorola Mobility V551

1 Answer

Display does not appear when the phone is opened

When I open the flip phone, the display does not come on reliably. The button that controls whether the display appears on the internal or external display seems to get "stuck." Pressing the button with a pen, slightly hitting the phone, or sometimes just waiting several seconds will eventually cause the display to appear. The problem mainly lies in the fact that I can't reliably answer calls. I have just changed the setting so that it's not set to answer when opened. It works better, but any additional suggestions to correct the problem would be corrected. Thanks!

Blank display

You seem to have a issue with the Flex Ribbon Inside. The Display has a Flex ribbon that connects to the keypad area. there seems to be a fault with that ribbon. this is common problem with **** shell phones/ Slider phones.. best solution would be to take it to a repair shop. unless you have warranty.

Water damage from my skin

You need to open the phone housing and try to dry up or clean the board for any wet situation or moisture and check for any bad connection specially the connector from LCD display into the main circuit board. This connection is frequently loose in Motorola phone due to the flipping function is not reliable. I am surprise that since a flip phone which is mean it will open and close almost every minute for million time per month or year htne how come they made the connection so loudsy. I have fixed these problems for my relatives and friends and always see this common failure in Motorola Flip phone. Everytime you are no longer see the display but still heard sound and ring which is mean that either your cable is loosen or bad then you have to replace it. Please see below link for hoe to replace the LCD: I have an instruction of how to fix a water damaged phone but I have not been tried it before so you must read the instruction of water damaged guide carefully and make decision whether you want to do it. Please email me at so I can email you the link. I am at work so I cannot reach to my laptop hard drive to get the info. Try the link above to see how ot open the phone housing first then will try others later. Good Luck
