Re: shocking

Depends where the sparking is most of the time it's the flyback transformer. other wise the tubes will spark.

I see two possiblites your flyback tranformer has failed and with it your horzital output transitor has shorted. most technicians can replace these. IS the spark in the front or back of tv. if it is in the front this is a tube. as a tech i would first identify what compnents are sparking. also this could be a capacitor shorting cause a burnt curcit board

The flyback should be replaced your model uses the 270125 flyback. Its a easy repair. You can get the replacement 270125 flyback from and they send a Cd with detailed instructions on how to do the replacement.

Tv went off and won't come back on.

the arcing sound is some kind of high voltage leak, which will shut down the tv. pull the speaker grill off and the access board, look at the 3 picture tubes, turn the set on you will see where the leak is, it's usually the high voltage splitter, which has a high voltage wire going into it and 3 high voltage wires coming out going to the picture tubes, if it arcs from the splitter you need to change it, if it arcs from one of the picture tube wires you need to pull the tube out and fix the high voltage leak, and possibly a cooling fluid leak caused it, not an easy reapir, you probably need a repairman.

My RCA projection tv makes a loud buzzing, humming noise. Does as soon as turned on even before picture comes on, does not stop till tv is turned off.

buzzing noise is cause by small electrical arc inside the unit or a problem in your audio circuit.if you can open the unit up and check if its an electrical arc.

The Lamp (CRT) got shorted / leaky that gets spark / arcing and requires replacement. TV is an old model and I'm not sure that CRT is available any more.

Burn spot and sparks

is it a off white block with a pink wire set going to the 3 picture tubes?then it is the high voltage called a flyback transformer.
the output is 28000 have to discharge the tubes before replacing the anode caps which are connected to the flyback.
this is a severe shock danger.
do not attempt this without the service manual ,about 35 dollars from rca.

Louding sparking in the back panel.

more likely its the flyback arcing which is a common problem with the ITC222 chassis which is what your model is. You can get replacement 259296 flybacks at the following link with free detailed instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself.

Popping; sparking of Red Projector to metal frame

Sounds like the red CRT has an internal short. Sometimes happens that the picture tubes develop an internal short and cause arcing. I world CAREFULLY disconnect all of the wires to the CRT and see if the arcing goes away. VERY IMPORTANT!!! there is a high voltage wire attached to each pictur tube, usually a red wire that goes to the side of the tube. You can get a shock even if the TV is unplugged, as the tube will hold a charge for years after the power is disconnected. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, DON"T since the shock is powerful enough to stop your heart.

No Picture - Sound

I just had this problem fixed. In my case, it was because the insulation on the CRTs was cracked, and when it would warm up, the shielding would separate and would let 5000 volts arc across the main board. This, obviously, damaged the board. The tech didn't catch the arcing right away, so they replaced the main board twice before they used a high-temp RTV to patch the insulation.

The power-cycling was a result of the damaged board.

The point of this story is that the broken part may be a symptom of the real problem.

I hope this helps someone!
