Just a wild guess, but perhaps the camera believes the battery voltage has dropped below a particular threshold?
Try charging the battery pack. Try another battery pack if you have one.

Nikon coolpix p100 photo download shuts of pc

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa or NIkon Transfer.

Viewing images on computer as they are taken

The P100 is not designed for tethered shooting. You can connect it to a computer to transfer pictures after they're taken, and to charge the battery. You could use an Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures as soon as they're taken, but again that's after you've taken the picture.

My nikon p100 wont take a picture everytime? it does sometimes but not always i think it is a battery issue but im not sure. please help me out

How old is the battery? If more than a couple years old, it's probably time for a new one. Check Amazon. You can find inexpensive generic replacement batteries there, just to check it out to see if the battery is the problem. Here's an example.

Camera will not charge, shows blinking orange but will not turn on... when it does, it's to a "battery exhausted" screen or the lcd display with a low battery symbol. Also doesn't show on...

It could possibly be the battery or the charger itself.Try purchasing the charger it self.Use the old battery to see if it will charge it. If it does not charge you may have to purchase a new battery.as well.

The screen has gone completely white

Hi, Are the photos still coming out normal? If they are then there's likely a wiring problem between the circuit board and the LCD which would mean having it fixed or getting a new camera. If it's within warranty Nikon should fix it for you.

I need to perform a hard reset on a Nikon P100 - more than just returning to the factory default (menu) settings. I have installed firmware v 1.1, but problem with locking is not solved. ...

I'm assuming you mean something other than the reset found in the menu. Remove the battery and memory card...press every button....leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the battery and then the card....turn it on.
