Astar LTV 2701 power supply

I need to replace the capacitor at RT1. I can't read the lettering on the existing one as it is all burnt off. looking at the back of the power supply board, its at the bottom left side. It's black and shaped like a pancake not the cylindrical type. Can anyone tell me what capacitor i need?

My astar ltv 2701 27 inch hdtv tv started to smoke and i need to get a new motherboard but where no one sells just the motherboard

I have a working motherboard from a broken screen LCD.
The smoke could have been from the capacitors in the power supply and not the main board. I would suggest to inspect the power supply as well for bulging or leaky capacitors that fail most of the time.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

My Astar LCD TV is possessed!

My nephew had exact same problem, I fixed it by changing 8 puffed up capacitors in the power supply. They went out of business because they copied philips tv design and were sued by them.. The model was ltv-2601(canadian model) but all including ltv-2701, used cheap capacitors. Has been good for 4 months now.

Power supply

I have the complete kit of capacitors to repair the LTV-2701 power supply. These power supplies need 20 capacitors for the secondary side of the power supply and 7 for the primary side. I can put together the kit with the 27 capacitors as well.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

The power board will need to be repair since there aren't any new boards being manufactured. The removal and installation of the power supply is quite simple.

Power supply repair

I just finished replacing all 25 or so of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board of an LTV 2701 AStar TV. When I got done, the tv came back to life and WORKS GREAT. Every last electrolytic was either leaking onto the board or puffed up or both. The main problem is that Astar designed the case so that no air can circulate over the board and the capacitors bake after a couple of years. If you don't do somethig to let the air circulate, you will be replacing them again in 2 more years. The board is pretty sturdy however and its fairly easy to replace them all with some copper desoldering braid and a 125 watt soldering gun. Just be sure to keep the polarities right on the electrolytics and make sure that they are the 105C variety. Good luck and remember to add some fans and cut some extra holes in the cage.
