Question about Heating & Cooling

Tradewinds VCH-6 and ventilator VR1000 on the roof, motor and fan blows but no suction

I have a probably 30 year old Tradewinds kitchen range top fan, VCH-6 and roof ventilator VR1000. The motor turns and fan blows pretty strong, but there is no suction at the range top. No suction at all. I wonder if it's due to the duct is blocked somewhere. I used a mirror to see from the kitchen range top to as far as I could see. I was hoping to find some damper with shutter. So far I have found any mechanism that blocks the air flow. I'll appreciate if someone could provide suggestions what I should look for. Thank you, James

It's possible you have a motorized damper or fire damper in there. Likely at the ceiling. Or the duct has come loose. I would think if a damper was closed that fan wouldn't be blowing much air. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: manual air duct damper installation

Go down to where the ducts come out of the furnace. Identify the line you want to install damper. Open duct and drill two holes directly across from each other. Take your damper and undo the nut and washer on the one end and install in the holes you just drilled. Reattach the washer and nut and now re connect the duct seal it with duct tape and you will be good to go.

If you have 6 inch ducts get a 6 inch damper. But be sure to do everything at the beginning on the duct as to divert air to other ducts.

I have to tell you that changing your air flow could develop problems if you do very many ducts. So be very aware of what you doing. All systems are put in with air flow in mind.

F8E0
Cooling Fan Speed Too Low
Fan speed below 500 rpm, either because the fan is spinning too slowly or because there is a problem with the Hall Effect sensor.

When will occur:
Within 20 seconds of a fault condition when cavity temperature is above 170°F (77°C).

RECOMMENDED CORRECTIVE ACTION PROCEDURE

1.Unplug range or disconnect power.
2.Pull the range forward and remove the top access cover.
3.Verify there are no obstructions in the blower. If there is an obstruction, remove it and go to Step 6. If no obstructions, go to Step 4.
4.Disconnect control board connect or P5 and check the fan motor for 105? resistance between P5-1 and
P6-3. If the motor test is not good, replace motor and go to Step 6. If motor tests good, go to Step 5.
5.Check the Hall Sensor by removing the control board P7 connector and testing for 5 VDC between P7-7 and P7-1. If test
is good, go to Step 6. If test results are not correct, replace the Hall Sensor.
6.Replace all parts and panels before operating.
7.Plug in range or reconnect power.
8.Start a cook cycle and check for proper operation.
9.
Enter the diagnostic mode to view the "Faults" screen. Press START TIME or DELAY START to clear each Fault code(s).

Self-cleaning feature

Check your owner's manual, but most self-cleaning ovens should not be cleaned with chemicals. The finish can be permanently damaged. You might try running the oven through the self-cleaning cycle more than once. It will take some time. Make sure the room is ventilated properly since the cleaning cycle produces a lot of heat.

Suction fan on GE over-the-range microwave

If the blade is not big enough, the motor not powerful enough, or the vent size is wrong then it will not work properly, On thing you can do is check the vent cap and make sure that it has not falling down onto the vent pipe and blocking air movement.

Sounds like the fan motor is overheating and shutting off . A long duty time  for a motor that has never been disassembles serviced and cleaned. If it is easy to do, Dissassemble and remove the motor. Most motors are available at electric motor supply outlets.Yes even tiny ones.  Replace same ,clean fan . Reassemble.

BABT83.2AL Canopy Rangehood The fan/suction is not working. A slight straining noise is heard. The light is working as is the display panel.

These units have a history of fan failure due to inferior 220 volt Italian fan.

I have just had fan fail and retrofitted a ebmpapst blower fan model D2E146HT6702 which is readily available in Aus for around $120.

The fan speed control is by inverter variable output so you don't use all the speed select wires that this fan has. Connect the Red wire on the range hood to the Black on the motor (High speed winding) and the Black on the range hood to the Blue on the motor (Neutral) and the earth to the earth (Green).

Disconnect and toss the cap in the white enclosure under the PC board enclosure (the new fan has the cap on board). Don't know how easy to fit in the range hood as mine is in an acoustic fan housing in the roof (makes it wisper quiet when running)

No suction

There is a set of blocks that are installed on the venting system to make the unit recirculate....use the manual to find them and make sure your not venting half outside and half into the kitchen.

Problem with main fan oven - electric

there is an overheat stat and this is operating and cutting out the oven. the causes are several but here are the main things to look for: oven stat is faulty causing the oven to overheat. you should check over the range to see if stat is reasonably accurate. overheat stat itself is faulty. there is another stat which turns on the casing fan. (this is the fan which is out of sight - not the fan inside the oven) if this stat is faulty and not turning on the casing fan, then the overheat stat will operate. the casing fan is faulty or jammed. lack of ventilation. see if you can narrow it down a bit and get back to me if you wish
