If you're offline with the printer, you definitely won't be able to print.
I'm assuming you're using Windows XP here. Most Windows products will be similar...
On the laptop, click on the Start button, then Settings, then Printers and Faxes. Find your printer in the list, right-click on it and click "Use Online" or uncheck the "Offline" box.
Good luck! Remember to rate the solutions!

This is actually a quick books issue that they blame on the printers
here are the follwing steps to resolve the issue
Quick Books (2009) qbprint.qbp file change
rename above mentioned file to qbprint.old
if its an erlier version of quickbooks ie. 2006, the file path is then: doc&settings\programfiles\inuit\quickbooks then look for the file and rename it
Here is the website from intuit that acknowledges the issue

Download HP Print Diagnostic Utility -
from the following link
There should not be any check mark next to pause printing and use printer offline
Open Printers and Faxes folder
Right-click the name of the product, and then click Open .Click Printer .
Check the printer queue menu - look for pause printing and use printer offline items - there should not be any check mark, click to clear them

According to your problem, first check the printer settings. Go to the Printer and faxes wizard in control panel. Right click on printer, if you fond there Resume printing then click on it. It will make printer working. Then reboot the printer and the system both. If it doesn't help you then there is the problem of printer software. Reinstall printer driver/ software again and reboot the both.
