Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

Sewing machines I can't believe the number of people on here with so many very simple problems with their sewing machines. Save yourself a lot of heartache and check your manual. That's the number 1 rule. If you can't find what you want there, ring the nearest dealer. If you don't have a manual, ring the dealer and ask them to send you one. They don't cost much. If it really seems as if there is something wrong, take it to your dealer for attention. A lot of time a service will fix it up.

What are the serial numbers on modern age sewing machines made in Japan? It's metallic blue, I believe it was made in the 1950's

There is no Make or Model name or even a model number? Japan cloned a lot of sewing machines for many years--even machines sold by JC Penney, Montgomery Ward, etc.

How do i remove cover

Lots of screws, then lots of clips to break off when removing the shells, then lots of fine cables to damage. Then a very big repair bill.

Save yourself a headache and a lot of money. Get it looked at by a trained Brother or Babylock tech. Brother makes Babylock machines so getting it serviced by a Brother shop because Babylock shops pay roughly 30% more for parts than Brother shops.

I have a singer 3116 simple. i believe the timing is out how do i fix this problem. thanks

It is not a do it yourselfer, you have to have the expertise and special tools. So you would have to take it in for service. If, it is under warranty, great if not, it is not great, it is expensive. Why do you think the timing is out? Explain the problem and we may be able to solve it without it being the timing.

Stich setting

It is usually 2.5 or mid-way between 2 and 3. Set it longer - closer to 3 when stitching thick fabrics.

Make a sample of the stitches by sewing on a folded scrap of plain cotton or muslin and mark the settings used for future reference.

Do the same for the zig-zag settings and this will save a lot of time and guessing.

Need to replace the light bulb--how do I do that

You will need to obtain a new lamp from a Janome dealer.......they will probably offer to install it for you for no additional charge.......just ring to agree a time.

It is a small low voltage, simple push in type lamp & I believe the part number to be: 000 009 906

Just make sure the machine is NOT plugged in when you change it !!
