SOURCE: Out of balance top load washer

This was my fix, my machine that would error out with DC/UC codes.

I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors in the spin cycle, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove the clutch pulley. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 4 yr old $1k machine with out trying a fix. If you want to work on this model get the service manual, good luck!

Why the washer doesn't spin water out?

Good Morning Jane,

I understand that your Frigidaire washer is not spinning the water out of your clothes. First, make sure that your wash load is not too small. Add 1 or 2 small similar items to help balance the load. Secondly, make sure the wash load is balanced. Move items around to rebalance the load. Finally, I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at the circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, please leave me your model number in your comment. Hope this is helpful.

Washer clothes

Your load is out of balance.
If you have a heavy item, spread it around the tub to balance the load.
It is normal for the tub to shake during the spin cycle. The washer has a safety feature, if it is too badly out of balance it will shut itself down and sound an alarm.

Washing machine will agitate but won't spin out water

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire washer, model# ATF6000ES, is agitating but not spinning the water out of your clothes. I suggest trying the following solutions:

    1) Make sure you select the appropriate spin speed for the load.
    2) Make sure you do not overload washer.
    3) Make sure the load is not too small. Add 1 or 2 similar items to help balance the load.
    4) Make sure the load is not out of balance. Rearrange load to allow proper spinning.
    5) Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked. Straighten drain hose.

After checking the above, reset your washer, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Once power has been restored run any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Out of balance switch will not stop washer when load becomes out of balance.

Your switch is bad. You don't necessarily need the switch. Snip the wires off either side of the switch and fuse them together with a wire connector.

My washer stops during cycle ...has to open and shut lid several times to get back to washing...why

You need to replace the "Lid Switch" on the machine. Over time, the contacts in the switch become worn or dirt and lint gets in it and becomes faulty.

Washer spins than it gets off balance and shuts

Hi, Washing machines can become unbalanced when the wash load has too much weight in one area of the basket. A machine in good working order can handle most problems through its balancing mechanisms. However, when washing heavy single items such as comforters, the machine's tub can become so lopsided that it damages the washer.

Washing machines that get unbalanced can shake, make banging noises, and even more across the floor. When machines are secured in one place, they can vibrate and bang so much the entire house shakes and things fall off shelves. This is not good for the washer. Bolts can come loose, and parts can break.

When washing heavy items such as pillows or down coats, stay near the washer so you can correct any balance problems as they occur. Some washers have an automatic shut-off feature when they become too far off-balance. If yours does not, stop the spin cycle, open the lid, and redistribute the load. If this is a continuing problem, you may want to wash heavy items at a coin-operated laundry in a heavy-duty machine.

Take care

Washing machine will not turn on it shut off

Have you tried unplugging the unit and waiting for a minute and then plug it back in. The load might have been off balance and caused that condition. Once it has been reset you might be able top end the cycle.

Washer was over loaded came and shut it off and removed clothes to balance it out now it will do nothing but add a little water than stop no draining spining nothing

Have you tried balancing your washer? You have four adjustable feet under your washer. They are located on each corner of the bottom of your washer. They are only bolt threads. If you have overloaded your washer to which it is off set, you can adjust the feet to balance the washer. Be sure to unplug the washer first. Make sure you are clear of any electrical shock. Safety first!
