Question about Panasonic Digital Cameras

Open Question

Panasonic SDR-H40 Camcorder. When I transfer my video file from Panasonic's Video Cam Suite software to my PC (Windows XP) it will not play in Windows Media Player, and in Cyberlink Director Express I can play the video but there is no sound. My earlier videos seem to work fine however. I notice that when I copy the files from the camcorder now, there are now 2 accompanying files ".MTV" and ".MCS" and previously there was an ".MTV" and a ".MTD" accompanying the main MPEG-2 video file. PLease not I have the speakers on and the volume controls unmuted. Any help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: not able to watch video shoots on my PC (windows XP 2000) after transferring from camera

The problem is exactly as described in the message. Windows media player will not playback files of the type .MOV unless you revert back to WMP version 6.4 (current version is WMP 11) and then install the appropriate codec which is available on this link; http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm Much easier and better way to play back files of this type you need different player software - the best being "Quicktime" which you can download for free from this link; http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html If you want a user manual for your camera go to this link; http://www.retrevo.com/search?q=Nikon+L3&terms=review+manual and click where it says "download pdf" I hope this helps, please ask again if you need any help with installing quicktime, enjoy your movies :)

Upload/Share Videos to SmugMug-Convert Panasonic SD90 AVCHD MTS files to 1080p...

Compress/Shrink SD90 AVCHD MTS to MOV for SmugMug with Keep Highest Quality <br /><br />I have a Panasonic Camcorder, HDC- SD90, which produces .mts files with 1920*1080 28Mbps. I record some more mts videos by sd90 and want to upload to SmugMug for sharing with my friends. SmugMug does a great job with MTS video, it supports 1080p HD and can take an MTS file directly. The upload times for an MTS file shot in 1080p (28Mbps!) though are too long, so I need to compress 1080/28Mbps video before uploading .To solve the problems, I recommend a professional program named <b>Final Mate</b>. This professional Camcorder Software - Final Mate can <b><a href="http://panasonic-avchd-converter.com/2011/06/upload-panasonic-sd90-recording-avchd-mts-video-to-smugmug-shrink-avchd-footages-to-mov/">Convert/Shrink Panasonic AVCHD footages to MOV for Upload/Share Videos to SmugMug</a></b> with best quality. <br /><br />Below is the fast guide for you to <b>Convert and Compress AVCHD files from Panasonic HDC-SD90 Camcorder to .MOV Videos with Highest Quality for Uploading/Sharing to SmugMug</b> on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. <br /><br />Step 1. Get <b>Panasonic HDC-SD90 1080/28Mbps AVCHD footage to Final Mate</b>. <br />If you have already backup all your mts video recordings from Panasonic SD90 to your computer, you can browse your video path via "Add" and the software will automatically show your AVCHD clips in Resource Tab. <br /><br />Step 2. <b>Create a Movie for Convert Panasonic SD90 MTS Files</b>. <br />For conveting Panasoni HDC-SD90 MTS files to mov and keep highest quality for uploading on SmugMug. First need to create a movie for conversion by selecting Add &gt; For Conversion in Movies Tab for putting mts video clips on. Choose export format - <b>Panasonic HDC-SD90 MTS to MOV for SmugMug Pro</b>. <br />Click the Export button, and go to the Devices tab. Choose HD Video - H.264 HD Video(*.mov) for conversion . <br /><br />Step 4. <b>Set Video/Audio Quality and Export</b>. <br />To get high quality videos, you can choose 1920*1080 size(pix),frame rate 25fps,medium quality as video bitrate and 256K audio bitrate before starting conversion. The quality loss is not significant, the videos still look great when viewed. Click OK to start <b><a href="http://www.aunsoft.com/final-mate/">Converting Panasonic SD90 AVCHD MTS files to 1080p MOV for SmugMug</a></b>. <br /><br />When the Panasonic SD90 MTS Videos to 1080p MOV conversion is done, you can quickly <b><a href="http://www.aunsoft.com/final-mate/">Upload Panasonic SD90 Recording MTS Video to SmugMug</a></b>. hi there
your camcorder records in AVCHD format which is a bit specialised at the moment, so your going to need special software to edit it.
you can get sony vegas movie studio 8 from amazon for about £30 ish and that will do the job nicely.

be warned .............. you will need a large hard drive (100 gig ish) as it takes a large amount of room to work, also a 3 gig cpu and a mid to high end video card.

hope this helps
