Question about Sharp 27F641 TV

Open Question

TV turns off automatically and discharges static

We have had this Sharp 27F641 for several years (Manufactured in 2004). Recently it started randomly turning itself off with a loud "popping" sound. After this happens you can't turn the TV back on. Sometimes this lasts for a few minutes but more frequently it lasts days. We have discovered that unplugging it and replugging it sometimes helps but the condition has worsened so now that is not enough to fix it. If we press and hold the power button it seems like static is discharged (degaussed?) which sometimes helps. It is quite a problem and if you aren't careful you can be seriously shocked by touching the metal SHARP logo on the front of the TV or the plug.

We are having the same problem with our Sharp TV.

Our TV started doing this a couple months of ago.

The TV is around 10 years old. I am also researching on-line.

I am also having the same problem. I disconnected the cable to make sure it was not the cable box, but it is the TV. Won't turn on at all now, just makes load popping noise and blue screen.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos turns itself off

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

SOURCE: Sharp 32c231 volume too low

If you are using a cable box with this set, the problem may be in the box settings.
Try this:
open the settings menu on the box . You may have to select"more settings" or something like that title to find the audio selections.
Under the audio, you will find recording and viewing volume settings. put these to maximum and save.
Your volume should now be more than adequate.

SOURCE: My Sharp LE820 Aquos LED TV recently auto turn itself off, when I turn it back on, a few good 10 minutes or so later it automatic turn itself off again.

Please check that the sleep timer did not somehow get set. If it's not the sleep timer, check if the panel stays ON longer after it's been off for awhile to cool down. Possibly a heat problem with the power supply or main board.

Are you comfortable with disassembling and looking for a bad capacitor? Make sure it is unplugged and hold the powerbutton down for 30secs to dispel any electricity, or you could accidently short out a chipset while poking about. And, of course, with any electrical device; Wear a grounding strap, to avoid damage due to static discharge.

What years was AR-M700N manufactured

Started in 2004-discontinued in 2008 i believe.

If you look at the serial number the first digit is the year it was manufactured, the last digit is the month. for instance 50000008 would be August of 2005.

I purchased my TI Voyage 200 about 5 years ago and over the last year the calculator randomly shuts off and when i turn it back on it automatically resets the memory. I have changed the lithium battery...

If you have already tried cleaning the battery contacts, then the next step is to disassemble the calculator and examine both sides of the circuit board under magnification for cracked solder connections or circuit board traces. Pay particular attention to the battery contact connections- if they are crimp-on or spring-type connections they may be worn and in need of some sort of shimming or adjustment. I'm not familiar with this particular model, but most TI calculators I've seen in the last 20 years are very difficult to take apart without destroying the case - TI likes to glue them together instead of using normal screw and snap-together methods.

If you do get inside, be very careful to observe electrostatic discharge prevention procedures. Work on an antistatic mat, connect the mat to the - battery terminal ("ground" connection on the circuit board), and wear an static discharge wristband connected to the mat. If you don't have the anti-static mat, at least avoid touching any of the circuitry unless you are first touching the - battery terminal. In a pinch, you can use an anti-static bag in place of the mat. DO NOT work on any other kind of plastic surface - anything you can use to raise your hair by first rubbing on it to make a static charge can destroy your calculator in less than a heartbeat when it is not protected by the case.

CASIO PX575R 1 year old off warranty. Randomly, keyboard will lock up. The keys will stop triggering any sound, but the rhythm machine keeps on playing. And all the controls are locked, not a single button...

This may be a hard one to analyze, however my educated guess is that a static discharge is putting the internal processor in a program loop it shouldn't be in.

It is my experience that you MAY not even feel a discharge even.

Suggest you make sure to not wear static producing clothing as a test. Sliding across a piano bench might even create the discharge.

The unit SHOULD not be sensitive to this, but the designers don't always do things right.

ALSO make sure the unit is plugged into a grounded receptacle.

Use of external things like amps and headphones can WORSEN the problem of static. External amps MUST be fed from the same receptacle.

Picture jumping

If this jumping is accompanied by a sharp snapping sound, it may be the high voltage circuit discharging to chassis. Leakage can cause the jumping and a discharge can momentarily blank the picture.

If you want to try a 'cleaning cure,' I suggest you pull the plug (not just turn it off) for several hours, preferably overnight. Sets of this size can carry enough static charge to punch a hole through your thumb if you get careless.
Remove the rear housing (shouldn't be more than 6-8 screws) and using a clean paintbrush, and possibly a vacuum to **** up the dust, clean it well and pay special attention to the area around a largish misshapen black plastic object bigger than most anything else and connected to the back of the picture tube via a fairly thick cable.
