Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Wii console My son i believe may have put a coin or coins into the Wii and now the each disc i try does not work and a error message comes up each time i put in a disc. Also the discs i have put in now seem to have scratch all the way round which again indicates ther is possibly something inside that is causing the erros. I bought it via an online German site last Christmas although i live in Glasgow How can i open my Wii to see if there is a coin or not? or where would you suggest i take it to get repaired in Glasgow? Thanks Grant

Try or here
do not run the Wii till you get the coins out, you will cause more damage
you do need a special screw driver.

you can send it in to Wii or me!

Hi,

If your Nintendo is under warranty, my advice is to take it to Nintendo service center..

If not you try removing the outer cover and remove the Coin...It should be poping out easil\y..

Dont try to shake it heavily, if the coim hits the Lens then your device eould be spoiled and you cant avail warranty..

Please revert me, if you need more assistance, i would be very glad to assist you more.
If you were satisfied with the solution please rate this sollution.

My son put coins in the wii which I was able to remove it but now its seems like it doesn't read the discs. The wii turns on and goes to the main menu but thats as far as it goes. The arrow to select where...

He must like the arcade ;). Sadly, it sounds like the coins might have hurt the internals of your system, more likely than not it knocked the laser out of alignment. Best bet is to call Nintendo and see about getting them to fix it, since they will have to open it and this will void your warranty. Sorry :(

My son has put coins in the disc area which i have removed but now I have inserted a disc and it wont come out?

Maybe its because you were messing with the disc area and you made it jammed or something. First of all, you dont put coins in the disc area, its used for discs lol. Anyways, you could fix it by bringing it to a store or replacing the console. Hope that helps.

My daughter has put a coin into the wii thru the disc slot an now i cant get it out can u help

That will be very difficult, the Wii requires a special screw driver to get the face plate off. It is called a Tri-Wing screwdriver, you can google for it if you'd like to attempt to fix it yourself.

There are two other ways you could try to rectify this. Unplug all cables from the back of the wii, turn it upside down so that the cd-rom slot is facing the floor, and shimmy it around a bit to see if you can get to the point where you are sure the coin is agains the cd drive. Then you could carefully attempt to stick in some small tweezers and try to grab out the coin. Just don't stick the tweezers in more than an inch or so, that way you avoid doing any damage. If you still can't get the coin out you should probably call Nintendo, they can fix it for you, and probably for free. Their number is: 1-800-255-3700

Coins placed in the disc slot of the Wii.

I would not advise using the drive if there are any loose objects inside. Doing so would void your warranty, cause damage to the wii, and possibly even bodily injury. If the disc should come into contact with the loose object while spinning at high speed, the disc could shatter and the shards may actually break through the drive casing.

A loose object, if it catches something traveling at high velocity, can easily damage the casing and the wii remember

The only practical solution is to remove the drive from the wii and obtain a replacement. It would be prohibitive to try to fish out the loose object, since you might damage the internal components in doing so. you will need to call Nintendo ( 1-800-255-3700) and see if they can fix it or guide you through taking the disk drive out

I don't think they will slide out if you turn the MBP on edge. I would take it to the Apple store and be prepared for a nice bill. I hear kids also do this in the disk player in the car to get it fixed It won't be cheap, I 'm afraid,

At the very least the drive will need to be removed, I fear. It may actually have to be replaced. A few hundred dollars, I would guess.

Good luck

Nintendo Wii

From the official Nintendo website:

"Object inserted into the Disc Slot If an object is inserted into the Disc Slot, it will automatically be pulled in, and it won't be possible to eject it. Do not attempt to open the Wii console or otherwise try to remove the object, as it may result in further damage to the console.
The Wii console will need to be repaired. Because this type of damage is not covered under Nintendo's warranty, there will be a charge for the repair. Please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options."
