Gas gauge not working

The needle is attached to a stepper motor that receives information from the car's computer. If the motor starts to go bad, it will only move some of the time when the computer tells it to move, which can lead to it pointing in all sorts of weird directions.

In order to replace the stepper motor, you need to pull off the dashboard, remove the whole instrument cluster (which houses the speedometer, tachometer, oil gauge, etc), crack that open, desolder the motor from the circuit board, and solder a new one in it's place.

It's not that hard to do, really, but you if you screw things up you'll have to buy a new instrument cluster (or live without a gas guage, which you're basically doing anyway).

You should be able to buy a stepper motor for under $5. Just be sure it's the right kind for your car, since stepper motors come in all shapes & sizes.

Kia sedona, broke the bolt to the serpentine tensioner pulley, now what

Asuming you broke it off in a blind hole, if you have a wire feed center a nut over the remaning stud & weld if on let cool put penetrating oil on it & work it gently back & forth even if its below the surface slightly on aluminum or cast the weld will not bond to the surface just the bolt you may need to do this process several times then go to dealler for new bolt. Note this works extremly well on broken ex. manifold bolts, we havent drilled in years hope this helps Danny

How do you remove a broken bolt on the timimg belt tensioner pulley for a 2001 300m crysler

!st remove the tensioner if it is still bolted in place by second bolt. Easy outs are high tensile you will not drill through it. You may have to carefully try to chisel it out. If you can get it out try a left handed drill bit if you have room to drill. If it won't come you will probably have to re drill & tap a new thread & use oversize bolt

My dryer's barrel will not turn. I have replaced the pulley and belt but that did not fix the problem. The pulley's tension is not tight enough to turn the barrel. I have the correct barrel and...

Hello Mwagner, sounds like the Idler bearing pulley assembly has come loose from the belt. It's job is to keep tension on the belt so the motor is able to turn the dryer drum. By watching some videos online it seems that alot of teardown is required to get to the part you need to inspect and or replace. Here is a link for you to look at that might help you. The pulley on the crank shaft that drives the alternator and A/C belt broke and I need to know how to remove and replace broken pulley.

You may need a pulley puller. Though this seems like a smart assed comment, it is the truth. They are ususally available to rent from your local parts store.
