Mother board powers up when power supply is turned on Does nothing

Has soon as the power supply is turned on the motherboard powers up. I get nothing, no beeps, no video. I have changed the battery, Removed the ram and video card and disconneted the motherboard from the case. I even use another power supply and has soon as I turn on the power supply the board powers up. I know its old and its just a back-up computer but I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

remove your video card uninstall if you ugraded this and temporarily use the on board then switch on. this way you can determine if your motherboard is also having a problem if you hear a beep beep sound your ram memory shold be taken out clean it then transfer to other slot.

SOURCE: Power to everything but CPU fan and case fan - won't boot

Hi this is tech crazy

The solution to the problem is as follows

The main reason for CPU fan overworking or not working is due to the load we put on the syatem while operating. So,the first reason for fan not working may be due to the SMPS malfunctionality.Better check out for it.The reason if fan is working but Overworking is due to viruses is system. So go in for format

Hope this solution helps you

Please do rate me on the above said solution

SOURCE: No Dispay, No Beep

Try leaving it off but with power to it (should see a small green LED on Mobo) for about 30 minutes or more.

After this time try starting it with RAM installed of course!

If this doesn't work your Motherboard is dead.

Will not power up. Replaced bad power supply(burned circuit board inside PSU) but still does not power up, PSU is ok. When power on button is pushed CPU fan turns for about 1/2 second but nothing else....

Sounds to me like when the power supply went out it allowed a surge to hit the mother board and you will have to replace it also .Look at the mother board and see if there is a green LED light showing if it is you are getting power to it and you have capacitors blown if not recheck you connections from the power supply and MB if they are all tight and correct then just figure on replacing the mother board

Power supply or motherboard dell 4600

Ok, you stated that the power supply cooling fan was running at this time. unfortunately, this is not the power supply unit that has failed. the mother board has actually failed in this case. If the power unit was damaged, the cooling fan would not spin. You will need tp replace the mother board in this case. it has failed.

This is not a novice situation. we recommend a service tech for this type of repair. if it was a power supply issue, it would have been quite easy to replace but, this is not the issue here. it the mother board.

Can not find heat sink switches on motherboard emachine t2862

Heat sink switches? I have to assume that you're talking about a dead mother board but the fans and the LED on the mother board are OK? This is a classic eMachines problem. Their power supplies glitch and take out the mother board sometimes the power supply goes bad too.
