Question about DeLonghi EC270 Espresso Espresso Machine

Why the coffe drips so very slowly from the COFFEE-MAKER?

Hi, I've been using this coffee maker for 2 years now and it was working fine... then, 3 days ago I finally cleaned the boiler outlet & descaled the machine (all done exactly as mentioned in the instructions)... and the next day I've noticed that the coffee was dripping slower than usual and the machine made new - different noises, the next day was worse.. and today it took me about 15 min to make a small espresso :/ It's not the filter holer, i think it's something inside the machine :/ Any ideas? And btw the steaming works perfectly fine.

    Same happened to me twice right after cleaning (with acid, like it should be). Tried many different things. And finally found out that it has to do with the filter unit and not the machine. More specific: the round black plastic-ish thing under the filter through which the coffee drips in the cup. Unscrew it, clean it thourougly (few runs in the washing machine..). And it works again. Goodluck

SOURCE: The coffee maker starts out working, however, by

A) On some coffeemakers the upper limit to the amount of ground coffee you can safely add to the filter is 15 TBSP. Exceed this amount and an overflow may result. In fact, there may be a disclaimer to this effect in the user manual. The solution may entail using less coffee or brewing smaller batches.

B) Try each of the following solutions, one at a time, until you hit on one that works for you:

1) a coarser grind to allow the water to pass through more easily;
2) a smaller amount of coffee in the filter basket;
3) brewing smaller batches;
4) another coffee brand/roast to see if the problem is caused by "blooms" (foaming action) associated with super fresh coffee. (This may be the culprit if you buy locally roasted coffee and grind the beans yourself.);
5) Try a paper filter if you normally use a permanent filter, or a permanent filter if you typically experience the problem while using a paper filter. It is also important to use only the type of filter recommended by the user manual. Do not interchange cupcake and cone filter types;
6) If using a permanent filter ensure that the pores/holes in the filter are not blocked with coffee residues. Clean as necessary with a clean (new) toothbrush and hot, sudsy water;
7) Ensure that the filter basket hinge is secure and "clicked" into place prior to brewing, the filter itself is seated properly, and the Brewing Pause spring is not jammed or bent in such a way that it fails to retract adequately to allow the coffee to flow through;
8) Make certain to push the decanter all the way in. Do not remove from the warming plate for more than 30 seconds if using the Brewing Pause feature.

SOURCE: Delonghi coffee machine making an aweful noise,

Hi. Husband asks: When you first turn the machine on at the power point, does it make a motor sound and then stop, or is the awful noise apparent at that time.

If the awful noise starts as soon as you turn it on, then most likely there is a motor problem which will need to be seen by a Service Center.

Very little water is dripping into the carafe

Try to run vinegar undiluted through the coffee maker first. If this does not help, you may have a plugged valve in the coffee maker or a tube/hole where the coffee maker water should drip through. if this coffee maker has a dispenser(where you put your cup against it and the coffee comes out) then there is likely a plugged up valve. This will require dismantling the coffee maker to clean it. Usually coffee makers get plugged up because coffee leaves a residue that requires scrubbing at time to remove.

Can I adjust the water flow for finely ground coffee?

You probably have coffee ground for a drip coffee pot, not an automatic drip coffee maker. With a drip coffee pot, you put the coffee in and add the hot water on top of that. You might want to try a coffee press. They are fantastic for the finer grinds of coffee. Some Mexican coffees are ground almost as fine as flour and a press works great. You can get a press for about $12 & up.
