Refrigerator stopped working. A lot of food spoiled. LG said unplug it for 4 hours then plug it in. Fix was sucess but I am still puzzled. I have never heard of applying th "Microsoft fix" to a refrigerator.

SOURCE: LG refrigerator not working

Check and clean the condenser. Unplugging the system allows it to cool off. when you plug it back in it will cool until the heat rebuilds if not rejected through the condenser. Make sure the condenser fan comes on when the compressor runs. A faulty fan motor will cause the same type of problem.

SOURCE: LG refrigerator lrsc26944tt error code ER FF

I'm no major appliance repairman. However, after reading several posts, I investigated the issue further since I received an ER FF on the front panel. I have a LFX25960SW refrigerator. I pulled the top and bottom baskets out, and was able to take the back panel out from inside. There was a solid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. I took a blow dryer and gradually melted the ice around the fans and wires. Then, as I was able, I pulled the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. I put the thing back together and it cleared the message. My wife says no more LG appliances for us. :)

SOURCE: Where to get bypass plug/cap for LG Refrigerator

I have been searched for awhile, no LG by pass for 5231JA2006A. I tried to modify the pipe at back of the refrigerator. My ice make did not get water and water dispenser works. Looks the diagram.... like this... ( by guess) ....

From supply ( bottom of the refrigerator), goes to top into filter. From filter, one goes to ice-mater. One goes back out to back and connect to water dispenser ... This sound not logic.... But looks like this.

I think I need to cut a used water filter and sealed inside to make a by-pass.

Unplug ref for about 5 Min. If does not fix the board in the door may be at fault or the main board.

You may need a service call.

What does message Er IF mean?

LG refrigerator "Er IF" error code is the "Icemaker Fan Error" message.T his error code indicates a problem with the fan that controls the unit's ice production. If this problem occurs because of ice buildup, unplugging the unit for 3 to 4 hours and allowing it to thaw may fix the issue. Call customer service if that doesn't work.

Refrigerator stopped cooling

the problem is in your freezer !
open the back wall of your freezer and check if the fan working then if you see a big build up of ice. then its your heater unit or your heater thermostat. to check that it is the problem unplug the unit defrost the freezer coil with hair drier gently and when it done plug it again and see if your fridg get cool (1h or 2) then you know its the heater unit or the thermostat :(

The samsung refrigerators temperature in side is 58 deggrees F.

the hair dryer is a bad temporary fix. The question is why does it continue to freeze up. there are a few possibilities. One is an over or under charge of refrigerant which is unlikely. It would have done this from day one. the other is that the evaporator coil is icing up due to some dust or dirt. this slows down the air flow across the coil and then the ice eventually blocks off the air flow. The fridg is like your house. It has a supply air and return air side that must be kept clean and free from obstruction. also one of the fans may not be working. This will definitely stop the airflow
