SOURCE: MY G892SCUPLUS MIELO DISHWASHER LIGHTS AND CYCLES ARE STUCK.

The rinse aid light means you are out of rinse aid. The salt light means you have to add salt to your built in water softener. If the drain/intake light is on, that is when you have a problem. It will flash when there is a problem. You have to count the flashes and that will tell you what the error is.

SOURCE: The "Rinse Aid" red light

The rinse aid light is just an indicator to let you know the rinse aid is low. You fill it in the container next to where you put the detergent. Just push the yellow button and the lid will pop up. rinse aid is more important on the newer miele dishwashers, as they dont have "active drying" like the older dishwashers did. They depend on the rinse aid to sheet the water off the dishes at the end of the cycle. They are designed this way to reduce energy consumption. If you choose not to use rinse aid, and you dont mind wet dishes at the end of the cycle, either disregard the red light, or fill the rinse aid dispenser with water to trick the machine into thinking it is full.
If you are not going to use the onboard water softener, you can turn it off. Refer to your owners manual, or call miele tech support at 800 843 7231 and they can walk you through the programming to disable the water softener. these are not fault lights, they are simply reminders that you need to fill the containers.

Dishwasher salt beko

Rinse aid and salt are not necessary if you use powder that is similar to the tablets. The lights are warning you that you havent added them, you know that so ignore the lights. If you live in a hard-water (limescale) area salt can be used as well as tablets or powder to make the water kinder to the machine, but most people just use tablets without rinse-aid or salt.

What do these mean on a zanussi dishwasher model DE 6854

The top light is apparently to indicate that the salt (!) has run out.

The bottom light is apparently to indicate that rinse aid has run out.

For the record, that seems to be a Zanussi DE-6854 dishwasher, and I found the manual here: (link)

"Special salt can be added in one of two ways: 1) If you are using dishwasher detergent that already contains salt, the detergent including the salt is placed in the detergent compartment. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 and electronically to 1 to ensure that the special salt is taken from the detergent container only. 2) If you are using dishwasher detergent and salt separately, the special salt is to be put into the salt container. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 or 2 and electronically between 1 and 5 (depending on the water hardness in your area) to ensure that the special salt is taken from the salt container only. Only use salt specifically designed for use in dishwashers. All other types of salt not specifically designed for use in a dishwasher, especially table salt, will damage the water softener. Only fill with salt just before starting one of the washing programmes. This will prevent any grains of salt or salty water, which may have been spilt, remaining on the bottom of the machine for any period of time, which may cause corrosion." (Page 6)

"Only use branded rinse aid for dishwashers. Never fill the rinse aid dispenser with any other substances (e.g. dishwasher cleaning agent, liquid detergent). This would damage the appliance." (Page 7)

The manual also explains how to turn the Rinse Aid light off permanently if you do not wish to use rinse aid.

Good luck!

My miele g680 dishwasher did have a flashing intake/drain I cleaned it seemed to be working fine, then everytime I try to start it the softener light comes on with no further washing activity.

that is just an indicator that your salt is low. it will stay on until you refill the water softener with softener salt. it will not affect the dishwasher to run it without the salt. the water for your final rinse will not be softened.

Inlet/drain, salt and rinse aid light flashing also water left in base of machine after it stops

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The first thing that should be checked is if its draining properly as it could be that the drain hose is clogged and needs to be cleaned. The drain pump also should not be clogged. Also the stopcock should be opened fully and the water inlet valve should be checked for any clogs. Also the metal filter, impeller cover and the air gap unit should be checked. After checking this you can reset the error as follows: turn the rotary selector switch to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx. 5 secs. Then switch the appliance off and then back on again. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Miele g892 scu plus, about 5 years old. when on, all it does is run some motor (humming sound) and flash salt or intake/drain. No program lights on. Sometimes can be reset so rinse light comes on and...

The water in the pan is what is causing the issue - need to find the cause of the leak - door seal or pin hole in a hose - possibly a leaking pump
