Question about Olympus Camedia D-510 Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

Olympus Camedia D 510 Lens cover not tight enough to keep power on.

When I slide the lens door open the camera powers up correctly. However the least little pressure on the lens cover moving it ever so slightly causes the camera to power down. I removed the lens cover and cleaned the track. This did not help the problem. I removed the cover again and lost one of the little balls. Can this camera be fixed and where could I find a replacement ball.
Thanks

Same problem with lens cover moving and powering down camera. I purchased camera new in 2002 and up to now have been very satisfied with it. I now hold the camera with my left hand and grip the carry strap in my right hand while using my index finger on the zoom and shutter button. It takes some practice but does work. The solution is to not touch the lens cover at all.

The solution, by jimr929, to not touch the lens cover at all, works perfectly for me too, as mine is also a 2002 model.

Camera part won't power on

I had the exact same issue with the D-395.
I wiped off the battery contacts and the ends of a newly charged set of batteries to make sure they were clean. Also while the batteries were out, I opened and closed the lens barrier or sliding cover to try and drain any juice still in the camera. I put the batteries back in and slowly/gently slid open the lens cover. It turned on and works fine now.

Olympus D-510 camera, lens won't extend at all

Sounds as if it could be an issue with the sensor behind the lens cover door. Unfortunately Olympus is no longer repairing this camera. You may want to call their customer service to discuss what your options are at this point. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Are you talking about the sliding door that powers on the camera and covers the lens?
There is a metal plate with two screws on the bottom of the sliding door that holds the door to the camera, try tightening the screws and see if that helps. Or else see if the door is slightly bent out of shape, and try to bend it back if you can.
This is a common problem on the Stylus-300 camera, you can buy a replacement door from eBay -

Cover open, camera does not turn on.

Completely open lens cover by sliding the lens cover all the way to the right until you hear two clicks. The first click will put the camera into playback mode. The second click will put the camera into shooting mode.
