Question about Cuisinart ICE-30BC 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker

1 Answer

Its not working!

We froze the bowl completely, and then tried putting the recipe for Lemon Sorbet into the ice cream maker. After the 30 minutes, the consistency of the recipe was exactly the same as when we started. What do we do? Are we supposed to change the speed, etc? How do we do that?

Re: its not working!

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; It sounds to me like everything should work, but you put something in the ingredients which affected the result - salty or hard or softened water might be a problem - also insufficient rinsing of any detergent you might have used. try different ingredients. Also get a thermometer and check the temperature of your freezer - the problem may be that the freezer is only hitting a couple of degrees below zero celcius. about -8c or more should be enough for your ice cream maker, more is better for your frozen food check your freezer manual for details - please post again if you need this. Hope this helps :)

How do you use a cuisinart frozen yogurt ice cream & sorbet maker

look on line; lots of manuals and recipes available. I'd say yours is one where you freeze the bowl over not and refrigerate the mix overnight too. You can buy the mix, but much more fun to make you own. I'd be borrowing a book from the library so you can experiment, but generally its make a 4 egg custard + 6 tblspn caster suger + 300 ml cream + flavour eg vanilla. I use powder custard + twice as much sugar to make custard and it works too! have fun

Lumina (Aldi) ice cream maker instructions

Before using the first time:
1. Remove all of the packaging.
2. Wash the parts. (the paddle & the bowl only)
3. Eight hours in advance, place the inner bowl into a freezer.
4. Prepare the ice cream or sorbet mix (see recipe ideas)
Allow the mix to cool in the refrigerator.
FYI, I freeze the inner bowl overnight instead of the eight hours as stated in the manual.
Good luck!

I have the machine but not the manual that goes with it.

Things You'll Need:
  • Fruit
  • Blender
  • Vodka
  • Lemon juice
  • Sugar, honey or agave nectar
  • Ice cream maker or freezer
  1. Choose your fruit or even blend more than one kind of fruit. As a general rule, it is best to use juicy, pulpy fruit, such as watermelon, mango or strawberries; however, you can add a splash of orange juice or even throw in banana for extra cream. Blend your selected fruits well in a blender.
  2. For every 2 or 3 cups of blended fruit, add 1 Tbsp. of vodka and 2 Tbsp. of lemon juice. If you are serving sorbet to children or cannot consume even these small amounts of vodka, simply replace with lemon juice; however, know that you will not be able to taste or feel the effects of vodka in your finished product.
  3. Blend sugar into the mix; however, add just a spoonful at a time, tasting until you reach your desired level of sweetness. As an alternative to sugar, you can use honey or even agave nectar.
  4. Place your mixed sorbet in an ice cream maker to freeze for the creamiest results. If you do not have an ice cream maker, simply place your sorbet in the freezer for a few hours; however, sorbet will be a bit harder in texture but just as tasty if frozen in the freezer.

Simple Vanilla Ice Cream from recipe booklet is still staying liquidy. Have done everything as instructed. Ingredients are well chilled and ice cream bucket has been in the freezer for two days. Have had...

Your freezer is not cold enough. I had a heck of a time with this machine the first few attempts, when I was in storing it in my main freezer (less cold than the one in my garage). Then i froze the bowl in my garage freezer - it is set to below 32 degrees Farenheit and is designed for long-term storage (gives anything I put in it major freezer burn). When the freezer is set to a low enough temperature, you will find that even 14 minutes is plenty of time to acheive the desired ice cream consistency in the ICE-45 (without having to pre-chill the ingredients).

Other things to check:
Make sure you are using heavy whipping cream and not half-and-half or other substitute.
Make sure that you wait until you are ready to pour the ingredients into the bowl BEFORE taking the bowl out of the freezer.

Sorbet not freezing

If it is not freezing, I would suspect you didnt use enough salt. Salt melts the ice and makes the water colder. You need lots of ice, the finer crushed the better, and salt. Do not bleed off the cold water, that is where the action is.

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.
