Gardner Bender GDT-3200 Digital Multimeter, 7 Funct, 8 Range, Tests AC/DC Volt, Resist, Diode, Continuity, Temp and Battery, Auto Ranging
it just peels off.
like taking off divers wet suit, same.
GDT3190 has a 1.5 V battery test position and if it does not have one then use DC Volts (V with straight line above) in any position higher then 1.5 V (eg. 2V)
On my GDT 3200 you had to pry and force the black padded case off of it. There is no instructions how to put the batteries in, and I nearly broke the meter taking off the case. Just try to force that case off of there. Hand strength combined with frustration and anger will help in that step. Once the black armored case is off, it's self explanatory. There's two screws on the back that come out and the red unit splits in two. Install the batteries and put it back together.
