SOURCE: Dyson Animal hose collapses when using attachment hose

You have a clog in either your hose or your wand. You need to take off the wand and hose and inspect them.

SOURCE: Dyson DC04 not working

Have you trod on the cable at all, sometimes the cable breaks inside the sheathing, test by switching on and wiggling cable where it enters machine, if it starts then thats your problem, easy to fix, disassemble switch, cut off and discard 6 inches of cable then reattach the reamaining.

SOURCE: No Problems with suction on hoses, however brush area it seems to lose powe, and has little suction r

We had a similar problem with ours and had to finally take it to the repair shop. They informed us that we needed to replace our clutch and that you needed to do that every 2-3 years. It cost less than $100 and has been well worth it.

SOURCE: hose attachment

Your wand is getting stuck in the hose because the hose is twisted - you need to unwind it:

1) Pull the wand up as far as you can, all the way if possible
2) Stretch the hose out and unwind it, use some babypowder on the metal part of the wand and in the future, unwind and stretch the hose out after you use it

3) If you can't get the wand all the way out, remove the canister from the front, push the button where you see the 7 vertical grooves (on the opposite side of the hook that you wind the cable around) - then pull on the hook and pull the hose up and off of the machine - stretch the hose out from the bottom and pull the wand out - now apply baby powder to the metal rod and disconnect and stretch and unwind the hose every time after you used the wand to clean.

Should the handle stay in the hose when it is detached from the machine? My DC04 did but we just got this one and it doesn't seem to stay in. There doesn't appear to be a way of keeping it in?

There is two versions of hose for the DC04 just check you have the correct hose on your machine.
If your machine is green, the hose should have a rubber cuff, that just pushes on and of the metal tube
If your machine is any other colour, the hose should have a plastic cuff, with release catches that lock on to the metal tube

How do i alter the dyson dc04 to use on hard floors

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC04 has a brush control on the cleaner head, you'll need to set this to 'On' for carpets, and 'Off' for hard floors. You can find out how to do this on our Support site:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control/my-machine-is-not-working/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating2/does-the-brushbar-rotate-with-the-power-on

If your machine does not include the brush control, it will only be suitable for vacuuming carpeted surfaces and we'd advise against using it on hard floors in upright mode. However, you can use the hose and wand to vacuum hard floors and we have several suitable hard floor tools available which may help.

I hope this helps - if you'd like further advice you can reach our freephone Helpline on 0800 298 0298. Just to let you know, our Helpline is available from 7am-10pm, 7 days a week.

No suction on floors but OK on hose

Hi there,

If your DC04 picks up as normal through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, this may be due to a blockage in the machine. The filter may also need a wash. To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/wand-suction

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Best wishes,

Jack

Roller does not turn

It sounds as though you need to replace the drive belt. The necessary part is available from http://www.espares.co.uk/dyson/dc04/p/1086/716/4. Fitting it is tricky, but guidance is available from http://www.dysonmedic.com/DC04%20Folder/DC04%20belt%20change.html

My hose tools wont pick up. when hose tools unattached suction is fine and will **** my hand fiercely, but once tool attached no suction..... how am i gonna pick up cat hair from seats now?! its a dyson...

I have a DC04 and the hose tools are a open hole. The only reason they want pick up is they are blocked. If you say they are sucking your hand when not attached.Make sure the hose is not blocked by taking off the cover at the front.Allso check the cylinder rubber seal is sealing the dust container.Thats the only problem i had with mine.Good luck.
