Question about Acer Aspire L310 (ASL310UD631A) PC Desktop

1 Answer

What mini pci WIFI card can I use in my Acer Aspire L310?

Got mine without WIFI and would like to add it now, Having some trouble getting info and the P/N from Acer. Only need 'G'.
Will any mini pci WIFI card work or is there any issue that might require a specific card. I did find out that Acer uses an Intel card.
Acer gave me a P/N and the cost $4.00, sounds great but I don't think it's the P/N for the card, maybe the anteana!
Any help or general direction I might use to find this info is appriaciated.
Thanks,
Dave

This small form factor desktop has no bays at all. The connection for the anteana fits a small hole in the back of the computer. I was wondering if the card and the anteana connection will match up?

I haven't been able to find any mini pci cards where I live, will have to order one and would like to confirm that everything fits before I do it.

Acer has refused to be of any help what so ever. Needless to say this will be the last Acer product I'll ever buy. I like the computer but not the service.

    Thanks,

    Dave

This laptop has 1 mini card slot for optional wireless LAN (selected models) just choose any decent aftermarket wireless g card and it will work , givin it's drivers are installed correctly and the laptop is set to autoconfigure the wi-fi. Most are set like this by default.
you also have a port for rj-45 , so having a 6ft network cable would be handy if you were sonewhere like a hotel which had free internet but no wireless.

I have an older emachine desktop without wi-fi

You can buy a WIFI card that installs into the PCI slots on your MB, or you can buy WIFI USB cards that are equally as powerful. Just be sure to buy the correct WIFI Product that is suitable with the WIFI signal you are trying to get on, i.e. 802.11 B, G, and N. Hope this helps. I installed a TP-Link WIFI PCI card in my 8 year old Acer Aspire T650 and it works great. Good luck.

Does the acer aspire 7551g -7606 have a msata slot?

Apparently there isn't that many reviews out there yet, for an Acer Aspire 7551-7606
(I found one, and it was SERIOUSLY lacking)

From Acer Support,

http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2010/Acer/Aspire/Aspire7551/Aspire7551sp2.shtml

Input and Output: HDMI port

I would think that slot next to the Ram Memory is for a Wireless Module. ('Wireless Card')

I believe the Acer T77H167.07 module is used. Used in a LOT of Acer laptops,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acer-Aspire-7741Z-Atheros-Wifi-Wireless-Card-T77H167-07-HF-AR5B97-/251001063265

Now would it use a Mini-SATA slot, or a Mini-PCI-E slot?

Mini-PCI-Express slot. You wouldn't want a wireless module using a slow SATA slot.

It's probably PCI-Express 2.0 technology that is used.

The best that SATA will move data is, SATA 3 at 6Gigabits per Second, (6Gb/s)

[NOTE*
Not Bytes -> Bits.
A Byte is considered to be 8 bits.
8 Characters. Whether they are numbers, letters, or symbols.
A bit is considered to one character ]

PCI-Express 2.0 with a 32-lane connector can transfer data back, and forth at 16GB/s

16 GigaBytes per Second,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#PCI_Express_2.0

8 GB/s one direction (Send), and 8GB/s the other direction. (Receive)

Can i add a serial port to this acer L310

There's no place to install an internal card to add serial ports, but you can use a serial-to-USB adapter. These are available online and possibly at a retail computer store if there is one near you. It has a USB plug on the computer end and the DB-9 serial connector on the other end for your serial device.

Aspire L310 Desktop: can acer aspire L310 desktop work with win xp and ...

Yes. I am currently updating an Acer Aspire L310 (lunchbox format) desktop.

Many of the drivers are contained on the XP installation disk and will automatically be installed when you install XP.

Other Drivers:

Assuming your L310 has the same hardware (may not), you can use the following Hardware detail to locate the drivers by typing in the hardware model into a search engine like Bing.

NIC - Marvell Yukon 88e8056 PCI-e GB; this driver can be downloaded from www.cnet.com. On this website, just type in the model info and it will direct you to the driver download.

Wireless NIC - Broadcom 802.11g; download from www.cnet.com

Display/motherboard chipset - Once you have installed XP and the NIC driver, go to www.intel.com and click on the "downloads/support" option. The website provides an autodetect utility that will identify your hardware and provide updated drivers.

Audio - go to Realtek website and select "downloads". Download/install the high definition audio driver for XP.

Once you are up and running with XP, run the Microsoft Windows Update utility and it will find updates for many of the essential drivers.

...hope this info helps

Acer

Hi

I'm not sure, please open the computer case and see if there is a free pci slot.

Note that opening the computer might void warranty.

Also, you would do fine with a USB Wifi adapter. cost around the same if not cheaper.

Thanks and good luck,
let me know if you need anything else.

I have an acer aspire desk top computer can i put a wireless card in it

The mini Acer uses a "small form factor" (SFF) and doesn't have room inside the case for standard expansion cards. These systems were not intended to be opened and worked on. You can still use a USB wireless adapter, though. Simply plug the adapter into an available USB connection on the rear panel, follow the adapter manufacturer's installation instructions, and you will have wireless capability.

Acer 4315 install wireless key

what do you mean wireless key ? is it wireless usb ? or wireless card ?
did you buy it from acer ?
if it is wireless usb adapter, just plug it in the usb port and install the driver for that usb.

if it is wireless card (acer). Open the back of your laptop, you can see the slot. just insert your wireless card in to the wireless slot and attached the both wireless antena (is should be black and white)

Acer Aspire Mini PC

Hi, you will be able to purchase a mini ATX format board by almost any manufacturer that will fit the acer case, the only problem you may hve is the PCI and Graphics cards will need to be low profile standards but these are also available if you are not planning on gaming then the on board graphics on most new boards will do all you ask of them.
