Re: no power

Not unless your a tech and have some solid state elctronics experience.. These are sofisticated electronic circuits and a TV set is no place for a handi person or a do it your selfer to be tinkering with. theres several devices and equipment you need as there are no tubes to replace inside these sets except the picture tubes and you cant take those down to the drug store and test those tubes on the free tube tester,.. your gonna need to callout a trainde tech to assist you with this repair . good Luck

My sound just went out

If this set has the Guide Plug logo printed on the front of the cabinet, unplug it from power and power it back.

If that does not help look in the menu for SAP which is secondary audio program, that will mute sound on some channels and may be your problem.

What do you have hooked to the set and how?

By the way if you hook a DVD player to the rear jacks on the set and go to that input and have good sound the problem is not in sound circuit.

A few questions for you that might narrow down the issue.

Where is DVD connected at?

Have you tried it on all rear inputs?

Where is Direct Tv connected to at the set and does it work normally?

If input it (the player) works with something else connected (rules out the input used) then I would suspect some setting in the players (identical model brand?) is set wrong.

Lightening struck nearby and the tv went out. Now

Obviously the tv took the hit but the dvd player was spared. check and replace the fuse in the tv if it's open. If this does not fix it then get an est and file a claim with you homeowners insurance.
