Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Brother mfc 8860-dn maintenance

Our printer is producing a dusty black line down the middle of each printed page, but sometimes goes when several pages are printed in one go. We have changed the drum and the toner cartridge, cleaned it as best we can and its still there.

Any idea?

If the line is in the same spot it does still sound like there is a piece of dirt still stuck on the clear plastic scanner cover which should be located right on top when you open the machine. it can get dirt stuck to both sides so make sure you are getting the underside too. rub your finger over the top too make sure you feel no grit then clean

I have a all in one color LC61 printer, do all colors have to be filled to print blk only?

Greyscale is color not black only.
You can print in black and it will look grayscale only darker, printers are a pain to work with after a year has gone by, I can expect almost a half hour to print something with my $400 epson because one of the colors is out even though I never printed in the last year a colored page. I take the color cartirges out and they are empty, but I only print a page 2-3 times a year. I use the scanner all the time. Brother and epson have their print heads in the printer not the cartridge so make sure your inks are always have something in it or it will be miricle for the printer to last more than a year. Check colors every other week. One Epson printer only lasted 3 months because I never used it(print head dried up). Never use the set up with tubes running outside printer to small tanks of ink if you only use it occationally.

Mfc-8220 prints black bar on right side

The full page width of text is printed, but it's compressed to the left and a band of black fills the right-hand side?
This is serious. A laser printer really does use a laser to form the image. The machine uses a single laser dot, some odd-shaped lenses, and a mirror mounted on a spinning motor to send that dot across the page a few thousand times as the page passes through the machine. If everything is pushed off to one side, you have either a defective laser assembly or main board. Replacing either will be expensive.
There is one thing you ought to try. We can reset all the machine's memory, on the off chance some electrical glitch has confused it.
First, we have to put the machine into Maintenance Mode. From the normal ready state, touch thes buttons in a span of two seconds or less:
The machine will go crazy with alarm beeps, and if you slow down to see what's wrong, it won't work. Press the Stop button and start over. It's made to be difficult, because Maintenance Mode is dangerous. Entering the wrong numbers can seriously mess up your machine. Don't go exploring, please.
If you are in maintenance Mode, the display will read MAINTENANCE, and all the lights will flash in unison.
Functions in maintenance Mode require touching two digits. it won't wait for your to touch Enter or Start or anything else - as soon as you touch that second digit, it starts doing what that code says, so no typos on the keypad, please.
There are two stages of memory clearing. Lets' start with the less destructive one - it will clear a lot of garbage from the memory, but leave your phone number and stuff like that.
and wait while it clears the memory.
When the display returns to MAINTENANCE, touch
to exit Maintenance Mode. Sit back while the machine goes through its start-up procedure, as if you'd just plugged it in. Make a copy for a quick test. If nothing has improved, go back into maintenance mode (Menu * 2 8 6 4), and enter 01 instead of 91. This will clear all memory back to the fresh-out-of-the-box condition. Exit with 99 and test. I think the problem is too serious to be fixed with a memory reset, but you might get lucky, and all you'll lose is the name & phone number programmed into the fax. Good luck.

How do you remove mfc-495cw printer head

This is a common problem with Brother ink jet units. Cleaning the head will not fix the problem. Call Brother at 1-877-brother and tell them your unit is "missing black" on prints. They will probably cover this problem under a special warranty for this problem at no charge to you.

I am getting a thick black line in the middle of my printed document when I use my mfc 8220

I am going on the presumption that you are getting this thick black line when printing from your computer. It can be a couple of things but firstly remove the toner/drum unit from the printer.
Check that the blue tag at the end of the top end of the drum unit ( used for cleaning the corona wire or drum unit & slides from 1 side to the other. ), is in the correct left correct position. If it is in the middle then that is what is causing this mark. It should be on the side of the drum unit where the arrows match.
If the blue slider is not in the middle then have a look at the drum & see if there is a black mark around it. If there is then you will need to replace the drum unit.
If you are only getting this mark when photocopying or faxing then there is a mark on the small piece of glass at the left hand side under thye document feeder.

Vertical Lines through incoming faxes and copies.

Sometimes you may see vertical streaks/black lines
on the faxes you receive. Either your FAX/MFC's
primary corona wire for printing may be dirty, or
the sending party's fax scanner may be dirty. Clean
your primary corona wire (see pages 13-18), or ask
the sender to make a copy to see if the problem is
with the sending machine.
Cleaning the Drum Unit
We recommend you place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of
disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering toner.
1 Carefully turn the drum unit upside down.
2 Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the tab
from right to left several times.
3 Return the tab to the Home
position ( ) before
reinstalling the drum unit.

3 black smudge horizontal lines on prints

Your brother can send faxes without printing the pages try your computer just you should download the driver.

You can download the driver from this link: " ".

About the lines which appear on the print, you will have to buy a Drum unit for your Brother 575, because the drum cleaning blade has quit working and there is no other way to fix this only by putting a new drum unit.

the drum unit is different from the toner cartridge, but if you search good you can find them together for lower price.
