Its a loose graphics chip. seems like laptop companies dont ever learn. nVidia is taking the fall now. Before ATI was the problem.

What are the appropriate steps to connect an external monitor to an HP Pavillion DV2000? When I try, nothing appears on the external screen... Thanks, RF

One of the function keys has a small monitor screen icon. Press that key while holding the Fn key, and you will enable the external monitor connector. These laptops don't automatically sense when you've connected an external monitor. On some models, the first press enables the external monitor and shuts off the laptop screen. If that happens, press the keys again and the laptop screen will come back on.

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the folowing

1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds

2) Plug everything back in and then rerty

This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty

I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Yes, the GPU is faulty. either replace the systemboard or reflow the GPU. Second option is cheaper and you can do it yourself. There's a link for a diy guide to fix that issue.

Hi:
I don't know the background on your DV2000 laptop, but if all of the sudden, your wireless stopped working, and now you can't enable it, I have some info for you. I would say to try resetting the laptop. You have to first remove the battery then the power. Finally hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Try it again. If that doesn't work let me know if you just added anything to it.
