Question about NetGear DGN1000 Wireless Router

Wierless router not responding

I am connected to the internet through the netgear using an ethernet cable at the moment but when i try to go wierless i find the router sometimes and click connect using a wep key enter in that wait a second and it comes back could not connect so i do the trouble shoot tells me to restart, so i do and comes back it cant fix it its a problem with the router i then cheked the diagnosis and it just say that the router is not responding the wierless connection. any help fantastic thanks

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION
There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength,check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders,washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

The Cable modem must be disconnected from the computer. You cannot use USB and Ethernet at the same time.

1. Turn off power to the Cable Modem and the Netgear Router. Do the same with the computer.
2. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the router's WAN (Internet) port.
3. Connect another ethernet cable from one of the remaining 4 LAN ports on the router to the computer's ethernet port.

4. Now power on the Cable Modem ONLY. Wait for the modem to sync up with your service provider
5. After about 2-5 minutes power up the router and wait about 1-2 minutes.
6. Now power on your PC.

Check and see if you have internet access. If not you may have to uninstall any cable modem software related to USB connection. if this is the case, then you may have to repeat steps 4-6.

Since most cable internet providers do not use proprietary connection settings, your internet connection should be up and running without changing any settings in the router or modem.

Every light sets green except the internet connect light which is orange and it doesnt respond to anything ive tried switching ethernet cables rebooting just the internet connection doesnt work..

How do I connect my netgear router to my desktop internet to use with my laptop. Followed instructions but when cable is disconnect from my laptop I can't connect to the internet


First Connect the Desktop with Netgear Router with the Ethernet cable. Open the Netgear GUI and configure a Wireless Network. Once its configured, switch On the WiFi switch from your Laptop and try to connect your Laptop. Make sure your laptop has an in-built Wifi adapter, if it doesn't then you would need to buy an USB based Wifi Adapter.

Also if you want to use the Internet with your Desktop PC without being connected with the Netgear Router then make sure it has Wireless connection capability.

Netgear WGR614 router with USB Cable Modem


When working with routers, CAT-5 cables are the more usual cable used. Your modem's Ethernet Port --- connect it via cable to the router's WAN input. Connect one of the router's LAN outputs to your computer's LAN input with another CAT-5 cable. Go through the appropriate Router Setup by putting http://192.168.1.1 into your Internet Explorer, with ' admin ' for User Name, and no password (just press Enter in Password frame). Once you are in to the router setup, you can select your Network Name (SSID) and then implement whatever Security you might want to use. You should be up and running by now, nhave lots of fun!

How to connect Netgear to Time Warner internet modem? I have Netgear installed on my computer, and I have the internet modem plugged in to my computer.


Just disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer and put it into the slot called internet on the router then run ehernet cable from port 1 to computer.

No connection when installing WGT624 Netgear router


Plug an ethernet cable into the wan port of the router from your virgin modem... then plug ethernet cable from computer into a port on the router....that should solve your problem.
