Question about Actron CP7672 Digital Multitester

1 Answer

Physical size of the Actron CP7672 Digital Multitester,

I want to know the actual physical size of this meter, and exactly the kind of 9V battery that fits inside. Is it the large rectangular one with the 2 snap-on terminals?

The meter measures in size aproximatelly 2 1/2" X 5" X 3/4" deep, and takes a standard 9 Volt battury, unscrew the two phillip screws on the back, and gently pull off the back cover, and you will see the battury at the bottom of the meter, unclip it from the battury clip, and replace with a similar type of 9 Volt battury, and reassemble.

Lost my manual and need to know how to test a car fuse

With a car fuse, you are only looking for continuity.
Remove the fuse from the car.
Set the tester to "continuity", if you have it.
Touch the leads to the ends of the fuse, if it buzzes, the fuse is good.
If you don't have "continuity", set the tester to ohms, the lowest setting, possibly 200.
Touch the leads to each end of the fuse and you should get close to zero, probably 0.1 to 0.5 ohms.

Checking 220 voltage in an oven outlet. Where do the red prode and black prode go in plug and what setting do I use?

Set the meter to AC, in a range that exceeds 220 V. Plug either electrode into any of the three holes, plug the other electrode into any other hole. If you get a reading of approx 110V, then one of the holes you picked is the ground. There are only two other combinations to try (realizing that the red and black electrodes are interchangeable when checking AC.) Only one combination should read 220, the other two should read 110.

Need battery for Onan 6500 Generator

I have searched but cannot actually find what type male of battery it uses, other than it is a Lead Acid Battery. Now with lead Acid batteries, it is the actual Capacity, in Both Amperage output, and Physical capacity. So based upon that ANY 12 V DC Wet Cell battery of the SAME Physical size, and CURRENT capacity will work. Look on the actual battery itself, it WILL/Should have identifying marks written on it. Get one the same, it is NOT all that critical.

Only has a -1 on the display

Christoph, Likely you have the meter set to resistance (ohms) and thus, are getting the displayed reading you've described. Also, with the polarity reversed ( positive and negative + / - ) you'll get the negative number displayed in voltage settings.

First off, check to make sure that the battery inside the back of the test meter is new. If your meter has been around for some time, it is likely that the battery should be replaced. Typically it is either a AA or 9 volt battery in most testers.

Once you've replaced the battery, try testing the old battery with the meter set to DC-V and the probes (red & black) in the DC-V connections. Set the measurement scale to the lowest on the DC range and then with the red test lead on the battery's positive end and the black test lead on the battery's negative end, you should be able to get a voltage reading of the old battery.

Now you can check the resistance function (ohms) by setting the meter to the Ohms function at the lowest scale/setting and touch the two leads together. You should get a reading of 0.00 ohms resistance. You might have to zero the setting manually with either a small adjustment wheel on the face of the meter, or with a small set screw on the backside of the meter. (some models have this installed inside the battery compartment also)

Hopefully that's all the issue you've experienced and your meter is now working properly. I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
