I have a gateway home editon 2600 need to be upgrade

Hello,

If you are trying to upgrade your computer's operating system then you need the following:

1. Operating System Installation Disc
2. Drivers Disc (you can also get the drivers from the computer's manufacturers.
3. Program or software discs

Note: Make sure that your computer passes all the system requirements of the new operating system to make sure that you won't have any problems.

One thing, i suggest that you install RadarSync after installing your new operating system, drivers and programs so that you will get automatic updates. RadarSync is a good software that looks up for new updates for your computer's drivers.

I hope this helps. If this isn't what you want, please let me know and provide me with the details of your problem.

Damn Small Linux is a live linux distribution,

My friend bought a new dell laptop & got vindows vista home premium for free when i wanted install that vista in my pc it installed on my pc bt now it is not activating with my friends vista's...

Hi,
I assume you are using the Vista disk that came in with the system. Even though you can see a product key on your friends computer, It would not work on your own computer because that product key is intended only for that DELL computer. The windows Vista that your friend has is an OEM copy of the operating system. The product key should match the Hardware of the OEM computer for it to work.
I suggest you get a genuine copy of the operating system for your self.
Hope this helps.

Hello, the whole screen froze up. the cursor wont move. it cant be powered off either. i badly need help. please....

Hello my friend, you are experiencing a system hang up. In order to restart your system you'll have to long press the power button on your computer or laptop then do not release it until the computer/laptop will not turn off. If the computer/laptop will turn off check first the system unit tighten the connectors and then restart your computer again. If it won't work then remove the power cable connected on your computer system unit to your avr or Automatic Voltage Regulator.
Thanks

My computer keeps freezing at random. I have not installed any new hardware or software recently. Nothing is reported in Event Viewer to give me any hint as to the problem. I am running Windows Vista...

This could one of two things. Either a memory issue with bad stick or a power supply issue. To test if it's a memory issue, I recommend downloading a linux live cd such as Ubuntu. http://www.ubuntu.com/ When you burn this downloaded .iso file to a CD, reboot your computer with the CD in the drive. You should get a menu before an operating system loads, one of the selections is "Test Memory"; take a look at this image: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/images/installingjaunty02.png
This will load a program called Memtest86+
This program will test your system memory (RAM) for errors. If you get any errors, note the location (bank 0, 1, 2, 3, etc.). Normally bank 0 is closest to your CPU, but some motherboards differ so consult your manual for bank locations. If you are able to identify the bad location, the rest is easy, buy a new memory stick and install it in place of the bad one.

NOTE: this memory test is exhaustive, it will take a LONG time! It could run for hours. be prepared.

If the memory test comes back clean, then your issue is a power supply that is failing. I had the same issue in one of my PC's a while back. The best thing to do here is take the old power supply and throw it away, replace it with a new one. Unless you are good with electronics and a multimeter, I don't suggest poking around in a power supply. This is dangerous, many of the capacitors can hold charges for upwards of 4 days.

Hope this helps.

I am A+ certified for computer repair just for reference.

Cannot use ie7 but at the same time commet bird running fine

Do you have access to another computer? I would advise downloading ie7 and burn it to a disk. Then install it onto the computer with the problem. Registry Cleaner will delete things it shouldn't so, I advise on just reinstalling IE7.
