Question about Compaq Armada E500 Notebook

Not booting up properly

Hello, we have purchased a used Compaq Armada E500 last December. We had never had problems with it. However, about 1 month ago my son noticed that the screen image was not appearing properly. There were lines going side to side as though you were watching a TV that was not working. So he powered off, waited a few days and the image came back. About 2 weeks ago the same thing happened.However, we have tried many times to power off completley, unplug the wires and the image on the screen is still not appearing properly. Can you please advise us what to do. Thank you..Maria

Besure all wires are connected to motherboard properly, and also be sure you LCD Lamp Is Not Going out (although, that shouldnt be happening if its only a year old)

Computer worked fine last time i used it about 2 months ago, now it will not power up, any suggestions? compaq armada e500

Sounds like the you might need to replace the battery. Also check the power supply reconnect make sure connection are tight etc... its a long shot but make sure wall outlet is also active as well! Sometime it takes 20- 30 mins for an old battery to begin to recharge:)

Need replace cmos battery on Compaq Armada E500

Please check the manual at this link for the proper removal procedure. In the manual, go to Removal and Replacement Procedures, and then to 5.10 Real Time Clock (RTC) Battery. It will explain how to replace the battery.

Display problems

Hi,Have you installed new RAM recently?if so it might not be properly seated,it's worth reseating it and see if that helps,or try removing RAM sticks alternately it may be a faulty one.

yes u should and u could remove hd to see if bios screen comes out cheak and tak eout 1 ram try anther before u say bad mobo proably tho best bet sell it on ebay used for repair ok

Compaq Armada E500 - Increase Memory

Try one only 256 it should work now. You cannot use a 256 with a 64 it just will not work it is physically impossible. I know with some of those older models and Im picking yours is because you mention you were using 2x64. What you should have done was to buy two x 128 I am possitive your board can only handle 256mb of ram. Try the one only and if it works use that I dont think two of them will work not on that board?? Let me know ok. You might wanna clean your machine out with a software like this and its 30 days trial but has all features till it expires: else if you dont want to take my advice on your laptop you can always go here:

Compaq Armada E500 Rom error

Change The Motherboard. The problem is in the rom that is BIOS of the sysytem.
