not sure if there is a carburetor kit out there for that machine, but it sound like your having fuel issues, would suggest a rebuild kit or replacement..

SOURCE: Makita gas trimmer RBC221. engine runs fine but

would suggest that the cable that runs the head is broken or there is too much material wrapped around the head... remove the engine off the trimmer and check the cable that runs to the head....

It does have 4 cycle posted on trimmer. So it takes straight gas?


Yes. And ... the 2% of oil in common 2-stroke mix will not trouble it at all.
Stihl "4-mix" engines require 50:1 mix with synthetic mix oil.

Other 4-strokes have crankcase oil sump, which will have fill and drain holes with threaded plugs. That can confirm it for you, while you check & fill the oil.

This model is a four cycle engine meaning that it does not a mix of gas and 2 cycle oil. You just fill it like your lawn mower, gas and fill the crank case with oil

I have an 18hp gxv610 honda engine that oil is coming out the crankcase breather tube while running. Any thoughts on why?


two possibles come to mind
excessive oil level in the sump
worn rings causing excessive blow by that is taking oil vapor out the breather as it escapes to the air

I have a 1989 Yamaha radian 600. Do they have oil leak problems where oil would come out while riding on back tire.


It may have a crankcase breather hose/port around the back end of the engine which allow the lower engine to breath. If the engine has been over filled with oil/the breather hose lose/broke, or has excessive blowby (bad rings), the engine will push oil out. Most 4 stroke motorcycles are not designed to stay with the front end in the air for long periods of time or the engine will run short of lubrication and eventually fail. If you want to keep the front wheel up the engine will have to be modified so that it can lubricate while the front wheel is up otherwise it will cause damage!

Engine got to much oil in it? Worn engine allowing fuel down into engine diluting the oil and raising the oil level? Blocked engine breather, pressurising the crankcase. Oil change and clean the breather. Worth a try

OIL leaking from my breather hose on top of the crankcase on my ttr 125


Hi, Anonymous oil level readings are taken when the engine has reached normal operating temperature and the usual suspects are:
1. Overfilled oil tank dipstick reading should at or below full.
2. If the sight glass is full you are running to much oil.
3. Excessive blowby caused by worn out piston rings.
4. Piston rings never properly seated.
5. Faulty breather valve or system.
6. Pinched or clogged breather line/hose.
7. Clogged or failed oil filter.
8. Contaminated oil dirt-rust-water etc.
9. Excessive oil foaming.
10. Wrong oil type not designed for your bike.

I have changed pcv valve twice and still getting oil in breather


The PCV valve does not control the oil situation, it just keeps the pans and valve covers from blowing off during a backfire. Excessive Oil in the breather is a result of excessive crankcase pressures, usually due to a worn engine, specifically rings.
SOME oil is normal, especially if you are loaded heavily and hard on the throttle.
There is a tester that measures crankcase pressures, but usually some other manifestation shows, like excessive oil consumption.

the PCV system draws crankcase fumes into the intake at idle and lower throttle situations. air going into the crankcase is filtered by the small PCV filter, where the oil shows up....

At highter throttle and lower intake manifold pressures, the system reverses, the PCV valve closes, and the fumes exit the crankcase VIA the breather filter. All of this is normal.

It costs tons less to periodically clean or replace the PCV filter.

Hi,
oil getting on a breather can indicate excessive crankcase pressure. Check all the `crankcase breathers and the valve cover breathers.

if the crankcase has been overfilled with engine oil. The crankshaft has to "beat" it's way through the oil and thus acts as a pump and sends oil all over the internal surfaces of the crankcase.

If the engine cylinders have developed 'blow-by" they will also contribute to an increase in crankcase pressure which will be evident by oil in the breathers. The fumes / pressure in the crankcase are designed to be removed by the engine breather system, and drawn through the engine etc.

IS THIS A 4 STROKE ENGINE? DID THE BIKE FALL OVER ON ITS SIDE FOR A LONG TIME? A PLUGED UP FILTER IN THE AIR FILTER BOX,OR A POSITIVE CRANKCASE VALVE PLUGGED UP? THE CRANKCASE VENTING,VAPORS NEED TO GO INTO THE AIR INTAKE AND BURNED IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER CYLINDER.

My 95 xr600r dirt bike leaks oil


This hose should be connected to the air filter box.

It's for ventilation of the crankcase, much like the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) in cars. As the bike runs, the crankcase gets hot enough to vaporize some of the oil. And since there's always at least a little bit of combustion blowby in the cylinders, you get a bit of fuel/air thrown into the mix and an oil/fuel/air "atmosphere" in the crankcase, which isn't an ideal situation. So, when the hose is connected to the air filter box, it slightly vacuums off this atmosphere, letting the engine burn it and expel it through the exhaust.

If it's not connected to the airbox, the vapors can condense back to oil and just drip out.

If a lot of oil is coming out ("a lot" is hard to quantify), you could be getting excessive blowby because of a broken ring or cracked piston.

Hook that breather line back up to the airbox and unless the bike smokes excessively, I wouldn't worry about it.

If it IS hooked up, it or the airbox is cracked and needs fixing/replacing. If the breather line has somehow become plugged (mud-daubers are amazing at finding holes to makes homes out of), the pressure buildup could have split your vent line.
