SOURCE: Can GE Digital Timer model 15086 be used for two way switch?

GE 15086 can replace single pole switch only.
If you have "3-way" switch, that is when 2 switches control same light, for example in a hallway.

Open link below to identify GE15086 timer, see wiring instructions, on-line manual <> and see list of timers that can be used for 3-way switching with links to those timers and manuals:

Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

HI,I installed a GE digital timer model 15313 about two years ago.Now cannot turn on or off manually or program it. But it does turn on and off the times I programed the last. Thanks

Try reset and reprogram
If functionality is not restored, then replace timer.
Note also the load rating for each timer.
If you are operating above or outside the load parameters for timer, then timer might not function correctly or function as long as expected.
This timer, and most timers have 1 year warranty.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15313

Suggest replacing with 5-year warranty Ei600
Can operate any load value, LED fluorescent incandescent motor
Has dawn-dusk or programmable mode

The timer has 3 wires, blue, black and green and the wires from the outlet after I removed the original switch are 2 black and one red. How should I connect the new timer? The timer is a GE 15313.

There are 2 different timers: 15313 and 15312
15313 has Black Blue and Green wires
15312 has Black Red White and Green wires

1) Your Switch has 3 wires: sounds like a 3-way switch at each end of hallway.
The 15313 timer cannot be used to replace 3-way switch
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15312

2) Buy GE 15312 timer for 3-way switching.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-GE-15312-timer.html#3-way

3) GE 15313 is for single-pole only, and rated for incandescent lights only and will not work for CFL, LED bulbs, or other inductive loads.

4) GE 15313 timer will work for single-pole or 3-way, and work with any type of bulb, or load up to 100 feet away.

GE digital timer 15313 has 3 wires, black, blue and green. Wall switch wires have bare, black, red and white from one line, and black and white from the other line. I've tried every combination

It sounds like you are replacing 3-way switch.
Low voltage light? Are these lights connected to 120Volt circuit?

I think you want the GE 15312 timer, instead of GE 15313.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-GE-15312-timer.html

GE 15313 is for single-pole incandescent light bulbs only.

Wall light switch timer inline with Extension cord GE 15313

Black to black (hot), Green to green (ground) and the only one left is of course white to blue. The (neutral) white wire can be many different flavors (blue, red, orange, brown, etc.).

If the outlet your plugging into (or controlled by the service panel breaker) is 15 Amps use a minimum of 14 gage wire (or 12 gage is even better), if its a 20 Amp outlet use 12 gage wires (or 10 gage). Don't use a 16 or 18 gage wire because it may get hot and start a fire because its undersize for the Amps.

Replace et724-A with new digital timer 15313

You are install GE 15313 timer
Open following link to identify timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15312

15313 timer does not require Neutral wire.
The timer you are replacing has neutral wire (White wire)
So replace timer wires 1:1 except do not connect timer to white neutrals.

Keep in mind the 15313 is for incandescent lights only and is not for CFL or LED lights.
If you want timer for CFL, then install one of the other timers shown on page.

I just installed a GE Smart Digital Timer. After I programmed the timer and went to manually turn on the light the light started to click on and off and the timer ticked?

Timer wiring instructions shown on following page:
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071

You connected the white wire and red wire together, and that is why lights are clicking on-off.
I test timers and have done this intentionally during testing.
Follow instructions shown on link above, and GE timer will work correctly.
Same wiring applies to Tork, Swilight, Utilitec, Woods, Leviton, Intermatic non-battery operated timers.
Instructions are different for Aube, Brinks, UPM and Intermatic battery operated

GE smart digital timer was installed according to instructions. Timer was set to turn lights on at 5:30, and the lights blink on and off but will not stay on. I tried reprogramming, but same result. ...

It sounds like wiring is wrong.

If you have GE Tork Intermatic UPM Woods Brinks Hagar Pass-n-Seymour Stanley Westek in-wall timer, with red, black, white and green wires, then you probably put red and white wires together.
Add a comment any time.

See instructions along with image at following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Program-wire-Utilitec-0192773.html

Heres how to wire timer

1) Timer-green-wire connects to bare ground wire.
2) Switch has 2 wires. Take switch wires and connect them to timer-black-wire and timer-red-wire. Choose either one for now.
3) In back of electric box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut. Connect timer-white to these wires.
4) If electric box does not have white wires described above, then connect timer-white to bare ground, along with timer-green wire.
5) Turn on electricity, and push ON-OFF button > with GE timer, door is push-button switch. If lights come on, timer is wired correctly. If lights do not come on, then reverse timer-red and timer-black wires.
