SOURCE: I have a sears craftsman door opener. I replaced

There isn't a reset code. It sounds like you may be having a door sensor problem. Is the small light on each sensor lit and not blinking ever so slightly? Does your door start down and then reverse to the open position? Is the door stuck in the open position? Check to make sure the trolley isn't jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If it is then remove the bolt and run the door until closes. Then adjust the up limit on the side of the motor unit. Turn it in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover about 3 turns. Be sure to then replace the bolt.

SOURCE: Craftsman 41A4315-7D. Door opens only 2 inches

Check the door springs. One may be broken. You may have a bad drive gear which is a nylon gear just in front of the motor. Remove the cover and take a look. It will be obvious if it is stripped.

SOURCE: Ocasionally my garage door will open by it's self,

Look at the LED light next to theSMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to removea light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashingrapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remotecontrols. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When youremove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stopflashing. This remote needs to be replaced.

If one of your neighbors remotecontrols is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you doorwill open when their remote is activated. If this happens you willneed to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls.Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you seethe small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the abovesteps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be anelectronic short in either the wall control button or the receiverlogic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires fromterminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persistafter the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If thesymptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motorunit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to thewall control button.

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. You will find it is stripped. The part number is 41A2817.

I need a replacement for a Lift-Master 1/2 HP garage door opener. I can't find a model number, but do have a serial number: 41A4252-7B. It was installed in 1995, but I have no original papers on it. Is it...

The number you give is a part number for the logic board. The model number is on the opposite end of the opener. If it is a Craftsman the model number will start with 139.

We just installed a CG40Chamberlain 1/2 hp garage

Your logic board is bad. If this is a used opener I would pull the logic board and look for loose or missing traces on the printed circuit board.
