Question about Computers & Internet
replace the ribbon cable and be careful when you re-seat it on the board and on the hard drive. While you do this check the hard drive connection prongs to see if they have been bent or damaged.Take note of the red line on the ribbon cable so you reseat it properly.
Clear the bios and/or reset all to optimum defualts in the bios set up. Then connect the HD again, and it shoudl be fine.
Call in a favour and ask a friend to hook this hard drive up to THEIR computer as a slave. (Preferably and XP operating system) if XP will pick it up on another pc, then its most likely your motherboardor or windows is the culpret, but if you cannot solve it you will~ be able to save your data.
I clone my back up drive. After swapping it a few too many times I have found that windowz does not like it.Manualy setting the hard drive LETTER as I stated previously, solved the problem.
I am confident that one of these suggestions will solve your problem.
Thank you and good luck.
