Question about KitchenAid KHMC107BT Convection/Microwave Oven

Convection baking only one one side

I use to bake and microwave with this microwave all the time. It did a very good job at baking. Now, it no longer bakes on one side of the microwave. For instance, I'll place a pan of chicken breasts into the micowave and convection bake them. When the time is up, the chicken breasts on the left side are baked through and the chicken breasts on the right side are completely raw. Any ideas?

Re: Convection baking only one one side

I'm not familiar with this specific model, but I would assume it has two convection heating elments and one elment is burned out or there is a problem in one side of the wiring that powers the convection elements.

What is convection cookong

A convection microwave is a combination of a standard microwave oven and a convection oven. It allows food cooked in the convection microwave to be cooked quickly, yet come out browned or crisped as in a convection oven. However, most cakes cannot be baked in a microwave oven - only those without an open grain structure, such as brownies. There are microwaves which contain electric browning baking elements. A true convection microwave has a high velocity forced air fan to circulate the hot air uniformly.

If you use a sensor function, the sensor may be obstructed, please clean the sides and top of your microwave with a dishcloth, warm water, and soap to dislodge any rough or stained spots.
If setting a timer, when setting to bake please pay close attention to the unit of measure so that you set it right, minutes vs. hours as you may leave the oven to do its business and return without noticing it did exactly what you told it to do but you had thought you entered a longer time.

You should be using convection mode first of all. It's not clear from your post if you are. Also looks like you're oven is baking at higher temperature than it says. Try 170 degrees for 13-14 mins instead.
