Question about HP OfficeJet r60 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Hp officejet r60

Black cartridges don't last as long as they used to - cartridges still seem half full but won't print - pages come out blank until a new cartridge is installed - never had a problem with this before I used a few low end, off brand cartridges - Now, it seems like going back to the factory HP cartridges didn't help either. Is there a cleaning solution that might improve my ink problem.

Hi gandoman,

It's possible that the problem might be that the ink nozzles of your printer is clogged. Have you tried running the diagnostics for your printer and running the nozzle cleaning option with the HP tools software. Try running the nozzle clean for like 2-3 times to make sure that the ink nozzles are not clogged, then print a test page.

Now, well most inkjet printers have catridge cleaning solution to de-clogged nozzles. As far as I know Epson and Canon has one, I'm not sure about HP, you may have to check on this. I'm also going to look around for this.

Hope this helps for the mean time.

Peace! :)

This might happen if you have used hp branded ink cartridges before and now then used refills then getting back to hp branded cartridges.

i think the best way now is diy
refill the ink cartridges yourself

It is always better, use the appropriate cartridge or the recomended one, if you got some other then alliignment should be done in less frequency.

hope it will solve your problem.

p.s.
use the recommended cartridge

In my experience, if an inkjet gets to be over 2 years old and starts having issues, especially with ink cartridges (due to the expense)

The printer should be replaced. Ink jets and deskjets are considered "disposable".

You may not find a good solution to fixing something that was made to be thrown away in a year or two. Save money on ink and buy a new, cheap printer for another 2 years. Sorry, thats just the way they make them and have been making them. You honestly can buy a new printer that comes with ink cheaper than trying to fix your old one and or keep replacing ink in an old one that does not work properly.

G'luck

You can use Sainsbury Bathroom cleaner which is very good.

Process to clean your printer which is the main reason for wastage of ink :

  • Turn on printer - head moves across
  • Pull power cord so the head is left 'unparked'
  • Spray cleaner onto the parking pads
  • Carefully soak up spray with kitchen roll
  • Repeat if there was a lot of dried up ink on the pads
  • Spray again - leave the pad soaked with the cleaner
  • Turn printer on, let head return.
  • Switch printer off with it's own power button
  • Wait overnight :-)
You can get cartridges full of cleaning solution but I prefer to get an old empty cartridge and add a few cc of isopropanol to it through the vent tube (this is a fiddly operation and needs a syringe). This cartridge now has very dilute ink/solvent in it. Run some test prints and see if the clogs go away. The very dilute ink and solvent is much easier to see on paper than pure cleaning fluid.

You need to clean the head printhead. First try to use the diagnostic tools that was installed using the disc of your printer, the printer utility/software. Use the self cleaning utility like nozzle check and the likes. The link HERE is the cleaning instruction but it's not for the same printer model. It might help you.
