Sounds like a vacume line. Hard to know if we don't know what type of car it is.

My clutch has very little pressure can still shift it through gears when parked. The day it happened brake fluid leaked out


The clutch must be hydraulic on your car, so it needs service. Likely the clutch master cylinder is leaking, but if so it would be good idea to replace the slave cylinder also and maybe any rubber hose.

Bleeding hydraulic clutches


Did you replace the master or slave cylinder?
If you replaced the clutch master cylinder, make sure you bench bleed it before you install it. Bench bleed it by getting a "bleed kit" (plastic fittings that screw into the hole where the hydraulic line connects to it, and a couple of hoses) secure the master cylinder in a vise (don't crush it, just hold it firmly), insert the plastic fitting and attach a hose. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid, then route the hose back into the fluid within the reservoir. insert a rod into the end of the master cylinder where the brake rod goes, then slowly push in and out until you don't see any more bubbles.
Then remove the plastic fitting and quickly install. Make sure to keep some rags handy to put under the master cylinder as it will leak a little while you're trying to get it installed. Keep in mind that brake fluid can ruin your paint, so wipe any off immediately.

If you replaced the slave cylinder and it's not bleeding, you can connect a long vacuum line to the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder and hold it in the master cylinder fluid reservoir. have someone pump the clutch slowly until all of the bubbles are gone, then bleed it the "old-school" way, by opening and closing the bleed valve while someone pumps for you.

2004 Infiniti is leaking brake fluild where should I start looking?


From the front middle or back of vehicle? at front I'd check the master cylinder first then try the rubber hoses near the calipers and the calipers themselves same thing on back if its in the middle that probably wouldnt be good because thatd be the lines that you really dont want to get into. It will prob be the rubber hoses or master cylinder is what I'd guess thats most often the case.

Has the 1994 honda civic lsi got a cable or hyrdraulic clutch? my pedal has no resistance and just drops when i touch it


Yes all 92-95 civics have a hydraulic clutch system. it starts at the pedal. Pedal pulls a plunger in the clutch master cylinder which is found bolted through the firewall under the hood on the drivers side. The master cylinders resivoir is bolted to the drivers side strut tower and connected to the master cylinder with a rubber hose. A line from the master cylinder runs along the firewall tirades the passenger side wheel then turns to the front of the car and is connected with a fitting to a rubber hose. The rubber hose runs to your clutch slave cylinder. The slave pushes the clutch arm. Your clutch pedal is staying on the floor because there is no back pressure to push it back up. You have air in your clutch system. First find out why (find leak or just top up clutch master cylinder with brake fluid if no leaks) then bleed your clutch. If your clutch line is rusted there is a coupler mid way in the line on the firewall. Will save you from removing the whole line maby. And there is no need to bench bleed the clutch master cylinder. My guess is your slave cylinder is leaking. It right on the front of the transmission. Pull back the rubber boot over the end of the slave cyl. and check for fluid leaks. The bleed screw is on top of the slave cyl. Find/fix leak, fill resivoir, pump clutch 10 times then HOLD. Open bleeder screw, watch for fluid and air sputtering out or just air. CLOSE valve, release clutch. REPEAT until clutch works keeping resivoir topped up. You may also open bleeder screw and pump clutch to get fluid into the system before you do the bleed process. Keep in mind brake fluid eats paint and is not very nice on your skin or in your eyes so be carefull with it. There may also be an off chance your pedal sticks because the clutch itself is badly broken but it's not really very likely.

No, you don't need to replace the clutch itself.
Don't be surprised if the slave cylinder replacement doesn't fix it.
Could be the master cylinder.

No brakes at all on my 94 mx3.....can i go to pick a part and change my pads myself...how


no brakes usually means one or two things a leak (in a hose, line,wheel cylinder or caliper) or a bad master cylinder if its full of fluid and doesnt spray out under the car its probly not a leak a way to test the master cylinder is to pinch off all the rubber hoses at the same time and see if the brake pedal is rock hard if it still sinks to the floor youve got a bad master cylinder the hoses will be close to the wheels within a few feet at least make sure you dont pinch the hoses too tight because you can damage them only compress them in half just to where the vise grips are tight cheking the wheel cyliders will require removal of the wheel brake drum (which can be difficult spray wd 40 or similar on the center and through the luggnut holes and smack around the edge with a hammer to break loose you might have to pry a little) amd pulling back the rubber boots on the cylinder if fluid comes out its bad even a little is enough hope this helps post more if no help good luck

How do you adjust the clutch on a 2000 ford focus zx3? does it have a slave cylinder?.... i pushed in the clutch to downshift and clutch stayed down when i let it go. i pulled it back with my hand and...


The only adjustment is for the pedal itself. There is a master cylinder at the top of the pedal that makes the pressure which travels thru the metal line to a rubber hose to a metal line which goes to the slave cylinder which is what actually pushes the clutch rod in the transmission. Sounds to me like your problem is in the Master cylinder part. It is like the brake master cylinder, there is a rod with rubber cups on it, and it sounds like the edges of the cup folded over backwards and hung up inside the cylinder, when you forced the pedal back up they folded back the right way, and now they are **** up a little making them not want to push as easy. This problem will happen again, so You better start pricing a new clutch master cylinder. From what I saw while researching this It looks like you can buy the master and slave cylinder as a set. If any pieces of the master cylinder rubber cups came off during this they may work their way thru the system to the slave cylinder and cause problems there as well. The reason behind thinking its the master and not the slave is, if it were the slave that hung up the pedal would have come back up since it has a spring on it.

Brake Lines and Hoses
Double-walled steel line is used in the hydraulic lines between the brake master cylinder and the front tube connector, and between the brake master cylinder and the flexible brake hose at the rear wheels.
Double-flared brake lines provide good leak-proof connections.
When replacing hydraulic brake lines, hoses, or connectors, tighten all connections securely. After replacement, bleed the brake system; refer to Section 206-00 .
The wet appearance of the outer cover of the rubber brake hose is referred to as "sweating." This is a normal condition for neoprene rayon braid hose and is not a sign of leakage or cause for replacement of the hose.

Brake problem


Did you use DOT # 3 Brake fluid to fill up the master cylinder like your suppose to or did you use DOT #5 that your not suppose to use???find that bottle let me know asap.John
