Question about Electronics - Others
My cruzer slice 8gb completely broke when i put it into my laptop. the silver connection part came off the usb and when i took it to the IT techs in school to look at it, appparently they can't do anything because the way it's come off, it's taken part of the green board off. Really all i want is all the files on the usb as it's all my school work, which i have no backup to because my computer broke and has been sent to my uncle to repair. I'm not really a tech wiz so i'm not really sure what to do, but some sort of solution or advise would be appreciated.

USB devices like you have can be repaired on a temporary basis. I have reconnected the broken tracks and copied successfully the data over to a new USB device.
An electronics engineer with soldering skills should have no issue with the temporary repair. I have no idea where you are so will not offer a repair service.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

insert the flash drive into your computer and wait for it to be recognised by windows. Once it has been recognised and installed it will tell you that it is installed and ready to use.
The just go to wherever it is on your computer that you have your photos stored, select your photos right click and click on copy, then go to 'my comptuer' and double click on your flash drive to open it and paste your picture there.
Or select your photos, right click, select sent to:- and send to your flash drive, it may be recognised as removable storage.

There might be a hidden file(s) on the drive that are taking up that space. Open the drive in My Computer, click Tools > Folder Options... On the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders. Then check the drive to see if any hidden files or folders are present.
You can also try formatting the drive. Right click the drive in My Computer and click Format...

copy the files to you're pc, and if you use windows just go in my computer and right click on the flash disk icon and click format check the quick format box and the press format.

SOURCE: Sandisk Cruzer 8gb Error
Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. I'd also try the thumb drive in a different computer just to make sure the problem isn't with the thumb drive itself. The drive could also be unformatted, or formatted with a filesystem for a different platform that can't be read by XP.
