Question about Samsung NP-Q1U/600 Tablet PC

NP-Q1 screen damaged

1. The tablet was dropped and the screen has a tear about 1/2 inch long. I put clear tape over it. The screen still works ok, but it is not a bright as it used to be or that it needs to be for daylight use. Must I replace the screen needed to restore the brightness? Do you do that?
2. The Control Panel on this XP Samsung has Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile to contol the brightness and color. I need to be able to turn the brightness lower than it allows (before I tore the screen) to use it in a light private airplane to display a GPS at night. Is there a different driver that can make it dimmer than this driver allows?

thats probably because of when it was dropped one of the LED's(light) probably aren't working because of the broken screen , once that screen is fixed the light will be brighter

  • jason Oct 24, 2008

when you get the screen replaced tell them to make sure all the lights in it are working because otherwise its to hard to read , and they will fix that as well

  • jason Oct 24, 2008

actually the lights are a part of the screen

  • jason Oct 24, 2008

also if it has power saving options , then you may be able to reduce the screens power consumption, you will have to check the devices main options

  • jason Oct 24, 2008

and if you already have been here and checked for updates then your tablet should be up to date

We don't physically replace the screens, we just offer advice and directions on what you can or should do

You can call 1-800-SAMSUNG to get the nearest repair shop or to order a new screen if you wish to replace it yourself.

Let me know if you need anything else

Drop the tablet

The screen probably will have to be replaced but the fall may have caused internal damage so that even with a new screen the tablet may not work without further repair.

How to fix not working touchscreen? Do i have to replace it?

The Samsung Q1 is a hybrid, ultra-mobile, touch-screen device that is basically a very small tablet PC. It features a 7-inch screen, weighs a mere 1.7 lbs., features a Windows operating system, doesn't have a built-in keyboard, and comes in a variety of configurations. The Samsung Q1 doesn't offer outstanding battery life, but you can make some moves to boost your computing time.

Dim the Screen

Dim the screen brightness. Four programmable application-launch buttons occupy the right edge of the Q1. One of these, the menu button, calls up frequently-used controls, including screen brightness. Reduce the screen brightness as much as you can, as it's one of the best ways to extend battery life.
Close Power-hogging Apps

Close applications and browser windows when you're done with them. Too many open programs drain the battery. Beware power-hogging apps. Watching a video or listening to music on your Q1 drains your battery life much faster than just using Microsoft Word or checking email. Turn off the Wi-fi networking when not in use. The built-in Wi-fi searches for a network when you're not connected, which drains battery life.

Properly Caring for and Feeding a Battery

Unplug the Samsung Q1 after the battery is fully charged. Leaving your Q1 plugged in 24/7 leads to some discharge from the battery. Consider buying a bigger battery. A 3-cell battery comes with most configurations of the Q1, but you can also buy a 6-cell battery to double the battery life.

Room Temperature is Best

Don't expose the Q1 to harsh conditions. Keeping the device in a blazing hot car in direct sunlight harms your battery life. If you use your Q1 in conditions above 95 degrees Fahrenheit, you can permanently damage the battery. Cold conditions don't harm the battery in the same way, but if you leave the Q1 in the cold, let it warm to room temperature before you use it.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Yeah! You can. As far as I know, third party software Windows Login Recovery is used to reset forgotten windows password and the windows password reset file can be stored in a USB flash drive.

I dropped my q1 and the battery fell out. I tryed to restart, but now I just get a gray screen. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Assuming that your battery is making proper contact with the Q1 battery terminals, this problem suggests that your hard disk drive has been disturbed from the shock the system received when it was dropped. You may have lost all the data in your Q1. You may have to reinstall the system.
