Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your machine is equipped with a safety device designed to shut the machine down if it starts to overheat. This may be due to a blockage - the filters may also need a wash.

To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1120&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once a month, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you need any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.

Best wishes,

Jack

SOURCE: Vacuum head is not staying flat

Hi.

Try changing the short transparant hose under the machine.
Or try removing the hose & reffiting it acts like a spring pivoting the head pushing it flat to the floor.

SOURCE: power button not engaging...vacuum will not stay

The power button is worn out and needs to be replaced. That vacuum is pretty simple. So even if you don't know how to take it apart it shouldn't cost much to have it repaired.

SOURCE: I have a Dyson vacuum. The vacuum won't stay

My vacuum had this exact same problem, but was out of warranty because it was remanufactured. Thankfully, it's a very quick, five-minute fix.

  1. UNPLUG The Vacuum!
  2. Remove the cannister.
  3. Extend the handle and remove it.
  4. Remove the two torx (T-15) screws behind the power button, where the handle normally stows.
  5. There are four tabs holding the front plate containing the power button on; use your screwdriver to release them.
  6. Gently pull the front plate off.
  7. The switch on the right is the power button. Remove it, try clicking it a few times; if it sticks, great! Replace it and reassemble, otherwise you'll need to replace it.

Have a Dyson v6 for several months. Roller brush stops turning a soon as I start to push forward after staring trigger. Examined & cleaned roller & surrounding head & find no objects interfering.

The Dyson V6 has an electric motor in the power head. The battery is in the handle unit. So power has to get from the battery head unit down to the motor at the floor roller brush. The way they do this is to send the power around the plastic debris cup that you empty, and then into the connector for the tube and out the bottom of the tube to the roller brush motor. Your problem is probably that there is a lost contact along the way. Try plugging the roller brush directly into the head unit leaving the tube out and see if it is intermittent or if it runs fine. In that case the problem is one of the contacts associated with the down tube. If the roller brush is intermittent even when plugged directly into the head unit, then the problem may be the connection associated with the debris cup. remove the cup and make sure the contacts are clean. Hope this helps. G

Brushes are not turning on my Dyson 24 vacuum - how can I fix it?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's cleaner head is protected by a sensor which shuts the brushbar off if something jams it. To reset your DC24's cleaner head, we would recommend following each of the steps shown in the video below. I appreciate you've already tried the reset button, but it's important to follow all of the steps in the process:

It can help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to firmly press the red reset button. You should hear and feel a click as it engages. Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing.

If you'd like additional assistance after giving this a try, you're welcome to contact our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson guarantee.

Hi Brad, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your DC33 on this particular rug. DC33 is a powerful upright vacuum, but we wouldn't normally expect it to be excessively hard to push on any domestic floor surface. However, we may have a tip to resolve this, and we'd value to the chance to discuss this with you directly.

If you can email your contact details and serial number to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

    Rota blade not turning

    Hi Craig,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. Your machine is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from the brushbar, you should be able to reset the machine. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in the video below.

This should resolve the issue, but for any further assistance with your machine, please call us free on 1-866-693-9766 - or if you email us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in touch as soon as possible to help.

    Hi,

Try this quick repair and see if this fixes your Dyson in terms of not going in the upright position: This is a frequent problem that we see come in on Dysons. If this doesn't fix it, please feel free to just use the clarification request and let me know this didn't fix it.

    Step 1.
Turn power off and unplug the machine.
Tilt the machine backward to a 45° angle.

    Step 2.
  • Hold the section under the airway inspection pipe.
  • The black forward lock button must be held down simultaneously, otherwise the valve carriage will not move.
  • Pivot this section upwards until it clicks into place.
  • Release the black button once the valve pipe carriage is moved up into place.

Dyson Animal Vac has become hard to push

Hi there, check that your brush bar is going round if you are having this problem on carpet. When the machine is stood upright, ensure the brush control dial is in the centre position when upright and then moves forward when you release the head.

If this does not solve the problem call us on 1866MYDYSON as we may be able to run through some more checks to help you.
