Stopped recognizing devices after inserting different hardrive and cdrom

I recently updated the bios,it took 2days!! everything was fine until i tried to add another hard drive 20gb and different cd-rom.Now it won't boot into setup even after i switch jumpers to configure mode, where as it was before. For some bizarre reason it only reads from my floppy after giving me a B:drive error message and I don't even have another floppy(B:) drive.I tried to configure my C: drive using w98 startup disk, but one minute it recogonizes C: drive, but when trying to format or do anything with it,it has invalid error messages(parameter invalid, or bad command).I can't even access my cdrom drive and it was working fine.TRULY BIZZARE.SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME,BECAUSE IT'S A FRIENDS COMPUTER AND i TOLD HIM I COULD FIX IT AND NORMALLY I CAN!!

SOURCE: bad bios checksum

You need to go to the website of whoever made the motherboard and get the BIOS flash utility and the BIOS binary file to update your BIOS. Make sure you get the right one, as using the wrong one can render your motherboard worthless. The BIOS file has to be the exact match. There is no such thing as close in this situation.
If you are not sure of the exact make and model, get te free Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com
The BIOS chip holds information about your motherboard hardware. It is reprogrammable. It uses what is known electrically erasable read only memory. This is also called Flash memory. Reprogramming is called flashing. When you flash the BIOS, all data is erased, then the new data is written. The flash utility will most likely allow you to save the old contents, but you might have an extremely tough time recovering from an improper flash. You'll also probably need a couple of floppy disks, one of which may have to be bootable. If you need a bootable floppy disk, you can get an image file from http://www.bootdisk.com.

SOURCE: Intel D815EEA: Won't Boot / Blank Screen / Three Beeps

the three beeps mean that your RAM is not good, and can be because of your memory slot;try changing the memory slot,or RAM memory;enter bios and disable floppy, and review the boot order.

SOURCE: My pc won't boot from

you are saying two differnt things here.. CDROM and DVD if its a dvd in a CD ROM it will not boot a windows disk if somehow this is written to a DVD Is it original?
Secondly is the Cd ( or DVD drive) actaully working. Being listed in CMOS does not guarantee that.

I know you have listed the drive as DVD but do you have 1 or two drives installed and not have the disk in the recognised drive.; have to eliminatge all possibilities of werror in interpretation here.

So assuming everything appears as it should, then the medial in the drive has to be considered at fault .. dirty disk.. drive needs iris clean, not an original disk, damaged disk, not a boot disk.. just a windows cvopy.;

Acer Aspire one 722 windows 7 netbook. "Check cable connection" and "no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key" are two common things appearing. The computer recognized hardrive, hardr

Hello, it looks like somehow the master boot record was erased from the hard drive, maybe viral? You mentioned the hard drive was recognized in the bios correct? If you need data from the hard drive the easiest way would be to pull the hard drive out and use an external hard drive enclosure to remove the data before you erase everything from the hard drive. If you dont need anything thing you can proceed to do a new install of Windows 7. Turn the computer on then hold alt and the f10 key to perform a factory recovery. This will erase everything and reinstall Windows 7. If this doesnt work then you will need a new hard drive and a bootable usb drive with Windows 7 on it. Hope this helps.

I have a 250GB Buffalo Turbo USB Hardrive. Until today it was working fine. Now suddenly it says USB Driver not recognized. Whats the problem?

Try to insert it to the other usb ports and see if it works fine. If it doesn't, then probably there is a problem with it. But try to insert other usb devices in the usb ports of your computer, if it does'nt recognize also then the problem is in your usb ports.

check whether the powe plug has been inserted properly and the power plug is working fine. Even though if the power plug inserted is working fine and CD ROM not detecting means CD ROM was damaged.

No usb

If your USB ports are installed correctly and enabled in BIOS, you will see Universal Bus Controller list in the the Device Manager. Double-click your USB in the Device Manager and a dialog box will appear. Click on the driver tab and update the driver. To get to Device Manager right-click on My Computer>click on Hardware>Device Manager. If your computer has a built-in USB device and does not detect the device through the Device Manager, confirm that the USB is enabled in the computers BIOS and that the BIOS supprts USB devices.

System recovery cds

I think the peoblem is that you need to set the cdrom as first boot device, go into bios (F2 or Del on boot up) and enter advanced cmos settings and you will find that the HDD (Hard disk) is set as first boot device, change this with up/down keys or + - keys to cdrom as first boot device. save settings and exit for a restart with cd in drive.
