Fan failure is when the fan that cools the machine stops working.the error always tells u which fan is not working, usually the c.p.u fan or the system fan mounted on the casing, simply check which one is not rotating and change it.or(not recommended) if it is the system fan, just go to bios settings and dissable it.hope it helps

My sis-in-law has a HP dv754n that just begins to boot (8 sec. and then shuts down. Shows "System Fan Failure". Volt at fan RED before and after boot failure is 5 VDC but during boot it is .12 VDC. Fan...

This is due to CPU cooler fan may faulty or not freely rotaing due to which CPU got heated up and as a precautionary measure it will shutdown the system. Need to clean the fan and apply some lubricant will resolve your problem. Replace the CPU cooler fan if required.

MAC PRO dual2.3- freezes, gray screen crash, freeze with hi fan mode, kernel panic reports, all require start button shut down. Some forums suggest ATI card failure. I'm lost.

All computers will shut them selves off or crash when fans are failing, or have failed. Cooling fans are plugged into the motherboard, and firmware on the MB keeps track of the system fans, along with everything else. If a system fan is failing, or has failed, the signal is sent to shut down. Some PC's will shut down cleanly, others give error messages, and some just freeze up. Of course, Bad RAM, video cards, and hard drives with bad sectors, can also cause problems like you have discribed.
I would write down any error messages, and beep codes, and then look them up online for a place to start.

I would be careful if i was you because if it is a fan problem and you are starting up anyway your system can overheat and if that happens you just might be buying a new pc instead of a fan :) I use driveragent.com for all my driver needs. it searches your pc after you install it and finds any outdated or wrong drivers you might have and u can download them with a click of a button :) its a small fee but well worth it i used to have to search for hours trying to find drivers and then get a wrong 1 and continue the search

Optoma RD50 TV which shuts down on #1 fan failure

This could be a variant of, or a newer (or older) version of the "DMD fan failure" message.

Symptoms I had are, I stop hearing a fan when the message is displayed.
Then the temp LED keeps flashing RED until I either try to turn the TV on again,
Or turn MAIN power off/on again. BUT it repeats when I try to turn the TV on.
The picture appears normal until this happens ( about 15 sec.)

The solution is to FORCE a normal shutdown by hitting the TV off button
before the message appears.
You should see the power LED flashing RED/GREEN (cool down) and then RED (standby).

The computer starts then shuts down.

Try booting up the computer pressing whatever key the Dell needs to boot into BIOS (F10, Delete key, F1...pay attention to the screen) and leave the computer on for about 15min. See if it cuts off then. If it does its more than likely your power supply. If it doesn't then its not hardware related.
